HornBlasters train horn

My brother has one, and it is indeed, Stupid loud. Aside from using it on idiot drivers, have you ever seen the people dressed in the statue of liberty costume to advertise the tax places? He has made them fall over. Funny as hell!

Actual horns off a locomotive are even LOUDER than that:eek1: They are inthe 150db range. huge differance. they are Very illegal too. but if used right deffinately fun. the ones my uncle steve put on his semi nearly deffened him. he took them off after the law got ahold of him and he got sick of his ears ringing nonstop from just afew uses.

nathan air chimes are real train horns like igor has. i have 3 of a 5 chime set from a GP38 diesel. circa 1958.

i sneak mine into the shop at work. set them up on my tool box behind the fridge. then when all the doors are closed and all the techs are up there working.......BAM! i let them have it.

150 dB would be outrageously loud. Unebelieveably loud. Like enough to instantly damage your hearing. Remember that the Bell scale is logarithmic. An increase of 3dB will make a sound be percieved as twice as loud by the human ear. The loudest guitar amps (like a 200 watt head) can only push out 130 dB most of the time (I think the standard 100 watt Marshall tube heads put out about 126 dB)and belive me, they are really really loud.

http://ezinearticles.com/?How-Loud-Are-Train-Horns?&id=2521392 they sell big bang after market kits that are 170db. I had a lincoln town car that hit 153db at the rear view mirror. of course that was bass and not highs wich are more dangerous. but you couldnt drive my car while it was cranked. it would jiggle your eyes so bad that you couldnt see anything, if you could breathe, not every one could very well.

We had a decibel noise reader at work a few years back. I convinced the safety lady to come out and read the decibels of my horns.

It was consistent between 142 & 144 decibels next to the truck and right against horns.

:woot::woot::D

That's super loud. I love those videos on youtube of the guys in the Crown Vic riding around and scaring all those people on the streets with their train horn :thumb:. Classic.

I have the Stebel Nautilus on my motorcycle. I love it. If a car drifts into my lane, it gets their attention quick!

I think of them as eaualizers...azzclowns blasting their super stereos, cell phone users not paying attention, other azzclowns who insist on staying side by side with ya....we need a good defense!
