Hot Rod Drag Week 2023

Heard it was open for hours today. Usually sold out in minutes.
Good to know you have a registered place in the program!

Either way, even if using time stamps I think Mark and I were early enough to be in legitimately, and I have not seen any communication saying otherwise from Hot Rod.

Yep, we both had confirmation by 070x hours. We had a game plan, even made sure we were both awake and ready to go

Interesting, I didn't realize it was that contested to attend the event. Nice work getting it done!

Haven't heard officially for this year, but last year the 400 spots sold out in 7 minutes...

I always thought it would be fun to take the crew cab on the power tour, but now I'm thinking with the limited spots available my trail beater wouldn't be appreciated. :doah:

I don't think Power tour has limited spots like Drag Week does. Even Drag Week is probably less of a thing than we're making it out to be. They "sell" the initial 400 spots, then create a wait list using time stamped emails. If you're on the wait list and still don't get a spot they say to just show up as they have never yet turned anyone away that showed up on day one. Power tour though...thousands of cars and everyone and everything welcome.

Speaking for myself I didn't want the stress of being on a wait list for the next 6 months. i'm not the most anxious person in the world, but that sort of thing could give me an ulcer. lol

Power Tour is massive compatibility drag week. I think drag week will be a blast due to the limited numbers. You get to know the rides and owners better.

Powertour limits Platinum, Gold and long haul packages. Dailies are unlimited. Last year they had somewhere around 6k participants.

Last year during the first day of the race, Brian L announced 355 sign ups and 230 showed at the gate. Then they pulled to the wait list

Probably some smoke and mirrors, it is a marketing company after all…

I think a lot of guys are mid build (like me) at registration time, then life happens sometime before the start date and they have to bail. That is why every year you see some really odd entries too. Joe Barry last year had some major issues with his '56 Chevy (7 second car) at the last minute that he couldn't overcome before Drag Week started. He still showed up...with his Mercedes and his wife and participated anyways. A lot of guys just throw up their hands and bail out though.

It'd be welcomed on Drag Week too. Lots of oddball stuff there, all the way down to I've seen a stock 90's Civic there some kid entered. I think it ran 20+ second ET's.
