How are your gauges mounted?

I don't have any pics, and I'm surely not going outside when it's below zero to take any, but I have the factory gauges, an aftermarket oil pressure gauge, and a tachometer hose clamped to the steering column. The factory oil gauge & speed don't work, the fuel gauge doesn't read accurately, and I think the voltage gauge is off

Some day, when I cage the interior, I'm tearing the dash out and building a custom dash & switchboard with all aftermarket gauges

When I did mine, I sanded/ground the backside of the dash smooth then I applied some jb weld and mounted a plate to the back, I measured and drilled my holes with a holesaw and this is the result!

One more thing it looks like the gauges were mounted in the face plate? did u use the plastic on the backside? or place them in the face plate only.
