A bit lost here w/ this.... are you wanting me to scale the pictures down? I can now if I need too.

Thanks for the compliments. I will keep posting as progress continues w/ the 8274 mount and front end.

Ok lots has been going on the last few nights. I tacked up the grill and have it installed with the 6 bolts that held the factory grill supports to the core supports. Even just being tacked up the neighbors 8 year old cold hold himself off the ground from it :D Much better then my riveted together factory original plastic crapola. I thought about getting a newer style grill and cutting it to fit, but heck that would have cost much more then my 28.00 worth of 3/4" square tubing.

After the grill project I rebuilt my 200.00 ebay Warn 8274. It had a couple chipped teeth on the cam and pinion. So I ordered in new friction plates and a cam. UPS also broke the plastic clutch handle during shipping and the new one has too small of threads so I got to find an older style round clutch handle not the newer T style :doah: Let me know if you have an extra please  My 25.00 mount should be in tom as per UPS tracking. I am contemplating tearing down the 8274 after I get the mount mocked up. I think I know of a place intown with a soda blaster and then I can cleanup the aluminum case and paint it...... hummm I think I might camo it!!

This morining I started on a dual battery trey with the leftover tubing. I am not fond of the black plastic box that mine is currently installed in. I feel that even with the straps that it could come out in a rollover, and with it being in the cab now I do not want it to kill me or another occupant.

Not to worry I will be running 2 yellow tops not a blue and yellow as in the picture. It was just easier to get one of each off our rack then the two yellows :D

Late in the afternoon DHL brought me goodies :D So I took a break from making the dual battery trey to bolt up the shackel flip and switch from DIY4x4.

First off let me say that this is one of the nicest kits I have seen, I choose the 6" shackel. The welds are flawless and everything was a perfect fit. I have used other kits and most needed a bit of fine tuning. Nothing whatever had to be done to make this kit perfectly line up. I also got some shock tabs in with the order and they too are A+ quality.

I will be getting a set of tube doors from DIY4x4 soon and have no doubt that their quality will once again amaze me.

I can pass on a few tips for the install that I found. As seen in the pictures I took some scrap tubing and tacked them onto the backer plates. This gave me a handle to fish the brackets behind the frame. There was no need for me to drop the gastank. After you get the first bolt started if you will tighten it down until the self locking nut first bites down you can then use a wrench on this installed nut to raise and lower the bracket to lineup the second hole.

Once I had both bolts in each backer plate installed I simply broke the tack weld and removed the tubing "handle" I am pretty sure I could have done this on a K5 without a body lift but it made it easier for sure.

I got both the brackets installed in under one hour. Wish it only took one hour to remove the factory ones  I installed my brackets on switched sides and have a set of 56" rears and 52" fronts installed. The height turned out near perfect with about 1" rise to the rear.

That thing is looking sweet.

Are you trying to get it done to go to blazer bash? If not a few of us in Carlsbad are going to meet a group of people in Las Cruces for some wheelin' on October 7-9 if you want to add another fullsize to the mix.[hijack off]

Once again, looking sweet. :D

Sorry I missed the meeting tonite. Got stuck working on the rig. Driveline issues will be my downfall on making the Oct trip. No Blazer Bash for sure but I would like to make Las Cruces. I need custom shafts and have yet to decide on CV rear, no CV rear, 1410 or 1350 joints, etc. and who to build them.

Atleast she is back on her own feet

You're not alone. I spent many hours working on my truck, upgrading here and there. Spending thousands of dollars on parts etc.. My neighbors think I am crazy because they always see me working on my truck. Everytime I see something or someone did some cool upgrades on their K5, I want them too.

Here's what I have done so far:

Swapped 44/12 with D60/14FF
Installed Detriot Lockers rear/ Lock right front
Installed WTO Hyrdro Steer.
Installed ORD Shackle Flip (I hate removing those rivets)
Installed ORD Zero Rates
Installed ORD High Steer
Installed ORD Crossover Steering
Installed Bolt-in Steering Box Brace Kit and Weld-in Frame
Intalled Greasable Rear Suspension Bushings
Installed Optima Dual Battery/Powermaster Alternator with Painless power management.
Installed Electric Radiator Fan
Installed Warn 12000 Winch/Bumper + Recovery accessories
Installed Confer Racks
Herculined the entire bed and cab
Installed Custom Roll Cage
Installed On-board Air
Installed Racho Extended Shocks using Ford F-250 Shock Towers
Intalled Posion Spider Differential Rock Ring
Installed Transfer Case Skid Plate
Installed Rock Slider
Mickey Thomson Baja Claw
Pitle hitch

BTW - My truck wheely like never before and after all the above upgrades I still get stuck.....but I am getting further stuck with the big boys on deeper mud and now :)

Mistakes/Regrets: 3inch Body Lift, Bushwacker Fender Flares (Can't trim the fenders), 16.5 rims (can't convert to beadlocks). Baja Claw (too much road noise).

Things to do:
1. Regear from 4:11 to 488
2. Rear disk brake conversion.
3. Hydroboost
4. High angle drivelines.
5. Doubler (my truck came with sm465/205 already). So a doubler will be nice.
6. Narrow the front clip (maybe, it looks like there's lots of work involved and I don't have a welding machine).
7. 52 inch sping (hate removing revits from frame).
8. Beadlocks/39.5 Iroks
9. 454 TPI Engine swap
10. 5 point harness racing seats

Then and only then I'll be done.....well maybe.

I understand the pace, at least your getting things done. Mine just sits in the driveway neglected awaiting crossover steering and fuel injection. It's getting there though.

At least yours looks nice. :D

Is there anyway you could take a pic of where the skinned fender and the rounded part of the firewall meet?

Thanks

This is the only part of the firewall I had to cut.

I demand more pictures, and that you get rid of those thornbirds. :D

What pictures do you want that aren't over on villagephotos :D I'll get rid of the Thornbirds as soon as you ship me some free boggers

They will have to work for now, plus I already had them from the DD so they are kinda like free. Drivelines are next before anything. It is nice beeing able to push it around but not the same as driving it :haha:

Wow, totally forgot about the link. You're right about the tires...nothing cheaper than free. BTW, do you know the collapsed length of those shocks? I want to mount my towers this weekend and the shocks won't be here until Wednesday but I can't find a table anywhere.

Totally off-topic dumb question for ya...how did you as the owner of an audio shop get into wheeling? All the owners around here that I know have slammed Suburbans on 22's, or something very similar.

Edit: I think I just saw a logo for Memphis Audio on a banner in your garage...good man :waytogo:
