how do you blow up a SM465...ill tell you

i want to know if any one can tell me what i blew up in my tranny be for i take it apart, its a sm 465, and i thought it was badd ass till second gear went in it, so i just whent from low to third and it did alright, that lasted about 2 weeks then i had no fourth gear and thats when i got pissed and sharted shoving into gears and burnt my clutch out, then i let it sit for a couple days. i finaly got around to ****ing with it, i tryed to put her in revers but it wouldnt even go over to revers so using my legs i managed to bend my shifter herd a poping noise and it finaly went into revers, but now it stuck there, i can get it out of gear but not in or even torwed any fourward gears...........any ideas and how hard are they to rebuild

Now, I'm no tranny expert, but maybe you shouldn't have driven around with it after you blew second gear in it. Afterwards, that thing just went downhill fast. Now have fun with the complete mess you have on your hands. :D
 
its not hard to find one in a junkyard/used one somewhere. i would say buy one and set that one aside, its pretty much a conversation piece now.....
 
turn into into a living room table stand. Cut a peice of glass to fit inside the bell housing, and weld the output to a peice of steel, and you got yourself a nice brewsky holder.
 
Wow this is the first that I've ever heard of someone blowning the SM465 :eek1:

Sounds like you might have burnt a bearing out and the main shaft went crazy. But i'm no tranny guy.
 
how much fluid did you have in it, and in what condition was the fluid?
 
..the funs not over yet

well the fluid was changed when i first bought the truck about 5 months ago, and it dosnt leak, i forgot to mention i banged gears in it at about 6 grand like every sat night, its not fast but it sounds bad ass. and i drove thew the ted williams tunnel (in boston) at 55-60 mph in 3rd at like 5 grand for about 10 min leaving world of wheels hammerd(the loudes thing ive ever herd by the way you sould all be proud). i saw that novak make rebuild kits and i found used tranny, but dose any one know if any companys make upgraded internals. and i know everyones gona **** on me for this, but do they make adapters to bold my t case to a 5 speed? and has anyone done this?

oh ya i was thinking of gutting it torchin it in half, putting hinges on it and making a mini BBQ

The 465 don't weigh 400 lbs. :rolleyes: :surepal: :rolleyes: :surepal:

Its more around 150 lbs. without the bell, clutch, pressure plate, and adaptor, along with the t-case, too. Any moron can pick one up.

Hahaha, atleast that way, if you get really wasted, and stumbly, you won't knock over your precious nectre. You'll just break/cut somthing on your body...

Well, seeing how you treated it, I'm starting to think your 465 committed suicide, because it really is that hard to kill one by driving it in a sane manner. You, on the other hand, have a whole other set of problems...

well thats besides the point but i was a little buzzed so it dosnt count right...

the tire idea sounds good just make sure you dont have any belts comin out......that would suck
