well thats besides the point but i was a little buzzed so it dosnt count right...

No that still counts!

But that is a whole other issue to deal with....

As for the tranny and the rest of your truck, as much as I enjoy romping on it and believe me I do, don't you think you drive a little hard?

You know what man, I honestly couldn't give you the most in depth answer.

I bought the truck in december, and have been trying to get it on the road since. I was soooo close last weekend, but the "rent-a-bay" I went too shut down on me on the sunday I was there. I had my whole front end sprawled across the bay floor, and they gave me 15 minutes to pack up, and get out before they locked everything up for good. I had to hang my battery by a 2x4, to get it out because the battery try was removed....

I have driven it around my subdivision, and have taken the truck through my park, and stuff. The snow drifts, and banks around my place get pretty big since I am near the lake. It works really nice so far... but I have only been through two gears.

Fireplug sold me the truck. Said the tranny always shifted nicely, and the burb could beat the majority of vehicles off the line in toronto. I beleive him too, because even though the truck has been sitting for so long, the tranny doesn't "clunk" into drive, or reverse at all. Just a nice solid shift you can feel.

So far I am really happy with performance of the tranny. Then again, it hasn't been on the highway, unless it is being towed somewhere...

ya i beat the piss out of it, it was my fisrt full size with a stick, so i had a little to much fun............and theres nothing better then wheelin in the summer with your buddys and drinkin a couple cold ones on the trail, its not like i get hammerd and drive threw preschools. r u underage or a morman

i just asked casue i have a 700r4 in my 89 step side and its junk too, but i think auto are stronger then sticks when it come to puttin power threw em, buy the way whats geared lower a 205 0r 208, i know the sm465 has like 6.5:1 in low gear but i had a 87 4x4 with a th400 and 205, and they had the same axels in em but my burb feels like its geared way lower you thing if the trans case of just the 465

I'm no preacher, but I know that cars and alcohol don't mix. A mutual friend of mine was killed by a drunk driver.

I am underage by the way, but I still do like to party but only when no one will be driving home.

can I quote that please??

If you're referring to me, knock yourself out. :D :p:

And although I am underage, I do have a lot of friends who do get "****ed up" and go out wheeling. I choose not to ride with them. I stick with the sober ones who won't get us rolled and killed. Personal choice and opinion of course...

thats cool guys im just ****in with you both but anyhow, did you read my post on gearing, i know th400 have a low final drive ratio in 1st gear as do sm465m but what about that t cases

Ok I'm a little confused because your posts are a little choppy.

Are you trying to get a 700R4 or a TH400 to relace the SM465 that you blew up? Also are you looking for the final gear ratio in a transfercase?

well i might go 700r4 just casue i could get drive shafts for it frome a stock truck and now have to get customs, all that bull**** aside i was just wondering what had a lower final gear ratio a 205 or 208

208 is lower in the low range consumption.... err, no pun. Also the th400 and 700 are pretty close in length and when I swapped out my 700 to a 400 I re-used the same driveshafts no problem.

If you killed a SM465 then DO NOT even think about a 700R4. If you pulled half the sh*t you pulled on that SM465 the 700R4 even built would be a pile of useless crap. Just find a used 465 and swap it in. The only auto that might have a prayer in hell at surviving with a driving style like you had with the SM465 is the TH400 that is at least mildly built if not heavily built.

Harley

Man, slow it down before you kill someone! Esspecially the drunk driving part, it simply amazes me you'd admit as much, not to mention being proud of it! If it was up to me, I'd have your truck hauled to the scrap yard to be crushed, and your license revolked...

If you're driving your truck hard enough that you are breaking SM465s, literally the toughest light truck standard transmission produced, you are driving like an idiot all the time, and you should be happy that you are still alive.

Id put a 465 back in it, you dont seem to have the maturity or knowledge to keep an auto alive in your rig. I'm just glad you are on the east coast and not over here, because its your mentality that gets our trails closed. just my .02

solidaxlesub is right, people see you doing that crap and us wheelers get a bad reputation.

1: Put the beer down
2: Attach a block under your gas pedal so you cant hit it hard(also increase your gas milage and save whats left of your engine)
3: Go ahead and put another sm456 back up, your already use to it anyway.
4: Stay off the trails
