I'm getting ready to do brakes on the V1500.. any measurements or should I take them down to the shop and have them check them out before turning?

You can measre the thickness of the rotor and the run out before taking them to a shop to see if they can be machined. any reputable shop will due this before attempting to true them up

rotors for these are cheep. and taking it all apart to cut might as well just replace.

and bigger rigs and bigger tires will warp a cut / thinner rotor faster and be back in the same boat faster.

However, buying a cheap Chinese rotor probably won't be as good as turning a possible O.E. or equivalent rotor.

if the brakes dont pulse when applyed then dont mess with it. pad slap it and go. thats another way around it.

The minimum turn thickness should be stamped on the backside of the rotor near the bolt holes. Once you have that, use a caliper or micrometer to measure the current thickness.
