This was my first time welding tube adapters. A buddy encouraged me to use high heat, high speed. Im not happy with how it looks. Do you think it will hold? Any suggestions would be appriciated.

Looks strong enough. But, if you don't like the looks, then grind 'em, but I don't see any structural problem with the welds.

I prefer to weld hot, but fast feed is not for matching the higher heat setting, its for better penetration. It looks kinda cold to me, is piled up VS penetrated. The next pic looks great. You can see the heat range is good and hot, nice bead. I would grind it out myself but thats just me. If it breaks you will know you need to weld it better :D.

looks cold and you didnt penetrate deep enough for a good job. i think theyll fail. good work on the other bracket, youve got skillz:waytogo:

are we looking at different welds? I'm looking at the ones on the pipe with the zirc fitting. The other weld isn't great, but that's not a high stress point either...

Please redo those welds. Turn the heat up a little and the wire down a little. Make sure you weld that in one shot or at least half at a time, NO ticky-tac welds on steering or suspension parts!

Yes, the link weld, not the pipe with the zirk, that is a cold weld, you cant even see the heat zone like the bracket. Its a piled weld which is a cold weld, there is no penetration there. The pipe with the zirk is good.

I may be confused on application then because I don't see the point in grinding it all down and starting over since it's not a high stress spot, or is it a stress point?. It messed the metal up enough that the end isn't going to fall/pull out. I'm curious more for future projects of mine than anything else.

Eh, practice makes perfect anyway.

Like everyone else said, heat up wire feed down.

The thing I remember most from my welding courses I have taken is that my professor always told us Welding is like Sex. The main thing your going for is penetration.

Haha, thats an awesome line.

Check this out. I did what you guys suggested, ground'em out and rewelded. What do ya think?

I can't see them real well but both the tube and the adapter appear to be slightly undercut.

I would suggest moving your side to side movement out a little more. spread the bead. Remember most of the time its not the weld that fails its the end of the material. Dig more into the tube and fitting. IE make the dime overlap both pieces your are butting up together.
