How far have you actually gone before filling up?

I know this isn't too far from a "what's your MPG?" thread, but not exactly. It's more like "how crazy/stupid are you?" ha. I'm curious how far people have gone on one tank. I sputtered into a gas station after 500 miles and put nearly 30 gallons in my 82 k5, 350/700/208/3.08/33s. Yeah, I was sucking fumes, but not by choice.

san antonio to san marcos on E but not too sure on how accurate my gauge is.it normally takes a 1/4 tank

to the next gas station:D

I have ran out of gas so many times it's not funny cause my gauge didn't work. I got in the habit of filling up everytime i went to town. I still do it occasionally. not sure how far thought cause when the gauge doesn't work neither does the odometer....

I got over 500 one time, and wasn't even worried about running out of gas. :)

Knew my gauge worked, I was just getting "great" mileage out of it. (50MPH on straight, flat ground at night works wonders for mileage)

ran out of gas in the middle of the road on the way home from the last meet n greet i went too. protechk5 towed me home like 5 miles with a chain. that was an interesting ride.

I have the 31 gallon tank in mine, it holds 31.7 :D:D

Went 322 miles with it. Started to die as I pulled into the gas station.

I drove my blazer from Evanston Wyoming to Elko Nevada towing a trailer @ 70mph with my dads car on it and ran out of gas as i was pulling into the gas station right off the hiway.

My mom wasn't too happy to say the least (about running out of gas that is). :D

Last summer i headed to Radium Hot Springs wiht a full load of camping stuff and a few friends following in there jap cars so speeds were up around 125km/h and i did the full 600km trip form edmonton on 1 tank including mountain driving. i was happy

'64 Chevy, 3/4 ton, 327/th350/Eaton rear end, 4.56 gears, 33x12.50

25 gallon tank in the bed since I got tired of fumes from the behind the seat tank. Went 498 miles on 24.7 gallons. I had 4 jerricans with me so I wasn't worried, but I knew I was hurting.

edit: I lied, that was after I dropped in the 14bff 3.73 gears.

i started thinking of this because my friend is so excited about his 2006 rubicon's 220 mile range. better than his old ('90) jeep. we were on a beach trip and he was sure we had enough fuel because he had a "massive" :haha: 180 mile range. that was at 160 miles, and about one minute later, we coasted down an off ramp. we ended up with 2 of us jumping in the back to slosh the fuel to the pickup just enough for us to sputter into a gas station. So who's crazier, my friend for not knowing the limits of his vehicle, or me for trusting him (sort of)?

Your friend for thinking 180 miles was good range. I go ~110 every day. I would hate to fill up daily. With a passion. I would have to build a bigger tank and lose cargo room. I hate filling up weekly.

you could put a huge tank in the bed, but it would be so heavy full that you'd break your springs or get horrible mpg. catch 22. my jeep friend actually did get a larger tank for his, but sold the jeep first.

jeeps...their owners are so obsessed with them, but can't seem to give any real reasons besides fitting through tight spots and having factory crossover (which most don't even know about anyway). are they trying to convince us or themselves? :surepal:. same friend didn't have room to haul one crutch, last weekend. that cracked me up.

he has a vette and an s10 with zq8 package, so he's still mostly a chevy guy.

I've probably gone thousands of miles without filling up before. Of course, I did stop for partial tanks here and there.:D

Most I ever got out of one tank was 530 miles. That was in my '05 Dodge 2500 CTD. Drove from lufkin to Laredo and still have about a 1/8th of a tank left when I filled up.

I got 255 miles on 20 gallons

12.5mpg

96 1/2 ton 4wd standard cab with only 40k miles. Disappointing
