How Fast?

My K5 will run 90 on the Parkway without batting an eye.. Wind makes it a little more interesting... Usually try to keep it down around 75, 80...

I did 143 in my Challenger and 157 in a 427 Vette.... :wink1:

speed kills

my 76 k2500 80 mph sbc 412 th350 4.88s and 38's
now my car speedo goes to 160 and it was way past that oh i got a video of it too

my speedo has always been so off I have no idea, atleast 85 I'd guess while passing.

82 k5, old 350: 111mph
same k5, new 350: 70 (i'm trying to be nice during break-in)

94 c1500: between 137 and 139, according to my friend's 'vette, next to me, and the cop's radar gun. my speedo was pegged out, bigtime. can you believe the cop wrote us up for only 24 over, so we could still take defensive driving? that's a cool cop!

I never new how fast my big truck was. . . 81 one ton, 454(built and bored)th400, 4.56 33's. It sure felt fast, my Dad and I had about every go fast part a white guy an a budget could get in that motor. I say, we had about 7K in the motor. The speedo only went to 85, and it would peg it no problem. It may not have had long leggs, but it could sure get there in a hurry :eek1: THe funny part was the gas guage you could watch it get lower as the truck went faster. :doah:

The fastest I have been in a car was in my Dad's Euro spec. 96.5 M3. 172mph on a closed down Airport runway. Clocked by a state trooper with good scence of humor. He said he never wanted to see taht car on the road. . . lol :haha:

I do agree with the tunnel vision thing on the Street bike. It was not long before the desision came to live/sell the bike. A group of my buddies and I would run well over 120 late at night. . young/not smart.

Driver re-eduacation and loosing my license for 6 months has slowed me down now.

125! nice what are the specs?

89 K5, 700R4, 3.73 gears, 33" tires.
Engine mods: Ported TBI 9.2 to 1 CR heads & intake, Edelbrock performer cam. Bored TB (590 CFM), Open plentum TB spacer, Injector spacer, Velocity stack, Adjustable FPR, K&N,
Edelbrock headers/TES 3" single exhaust, Flowmaster.
Use to be on the stock HD suspention. I now have a 4" lift. So I usually keep it under 100.:D
BTW I live in a very rural area. There is usually no traffic on the local highways. Some days I dont pass a single car on my 20 mile commute to work on I-80. So I pretty much drive as fast as I want.... Unless the radar detector goes off or there is traffic.. As long as you keep under 85. The Cops around here wont usually even give you a second look. They are more into profiling/catching drug runners and drunks, than stopping a speeder on the way to work on an empty road. They even close down the highways around here and have go as fast as you can open road races. Lots of fun!. That is what my Mustang is built for.

Driving my own
88 K5 350tbi/700r4 - 85mph
92 300zx - 135mph
02 Jeep Liberty (2.5" lift) - 115mph

Driving friends cars/bikes
03 Suzuki GSX-R 140mph
99 Kawasaki ZX9-R 147mph
04 Mazda RX-8 - 135mph
05 Dodge SRT-4 - 130mph
97 Mitsu Eclipse GS-T - 130mph

+++ Many more.

big trucks can definitely move, assuming you're willing to flirt with the redline a little. generally speaking, i'm not willing to run them that hard, but the foot can get heavy on a rare occasion.

I've done speeds way faster, 140mph once from Phoenix to Tucson for a short time. But never attempted it in my Blazer.... I usually go 70 to 80mph.....I can only go as fast as the speedo will max up, but I can squeeze 5 more mph past the 85mph mark. I don't do it often cuz it makes my engine scream as loud as the last chick I fell in love with... she's not with me anymore, so it's safe for me to say, yeah they're both LOUD in comparison!:haha:
