How many of you plan on going to BB08?

I am planning on going unless some stupid crap comes up that have to spend the money on.

Where can I find the page with info on this event? Can I bring my ride and just watch everyone on the trails? Is there a trail where I will not get body damage at all? Sorry, I know I sound like a wimp, my truck is damage free and has stock suspension and I'd like to keep it that way.

Of course you can ride and watch wherever and whatever you want. There are always empty seats and the toughest trails (the buggy-only type ones) are so short that the spectators just walk the whole way anyway (most of those trails are less than 1 mile).

There are lots of great trails in Moab for a stock K5 too, it really spans the whole spectrum.

Body damage was a concern for me too. I did all the major/popular trails last year and unless you get stupid or have an accident, you will not have body damage.
With a stock suspension, you will not be able to do some of the popular trails, but like Chris said, there are many easy trails for stock trucks and many empty seats.

Fred you should think about renting space on a trailer to some other CK5ers. I imagine you can get 3 on a truck so 2 others would help cover the cost of fuel. :deal:

Cost for 18 wheeler

Figure 3500 miles round trip
5.5 MPG $4.70-$5.00/gal by then
636 gallons $2989- $3180 for fuel
Driver pay @ $.32/mile $1120
Layover 3 nights $450
Insurance $450

$5009-$5200 before any tire or mechanical expense

$5009- $5200 divided by 4 is $1252- 1300 per vehicle

I doubt there is an appreciable savings unless we could haul 6 or more.
And there is always the fact that we lose the use of a truck and driver. Cannot haul passengers, so those with trucks on the big rig would have to have a chase car anyway.

Think that I will drive.

I get 13 mpg (probably better, but at 13mpg figure my cost is $1,076 and I can enjoy the trip.)

IF I can get away from work.

Yikes! I knew it wouldn't be cheap but I had now idea it would be $5k. :doah: Ok, ummm... I may have to wait. :D

If I can get away and you want to go , we can split the gas bill. Wonder if mine can pull yours on a trailer? What does your rig weigh?

I figure when it's done it'll tip the scales around 5500. I'd love to but I don't have enough vacation time left, I imagine that'd be 2 days travel each way plus the event itself.

One day... one day...

So fly into SLC rent a car or hitch a ride down with one of us and get a ride in a passenger seat for the bash, or rent a jeep and do the bash in it.

Bb08

Have my reservation at Sliprock for a campsite. Arrive on Thursday night.
I will probably be looking for a right side ride though. Gotta see what real rock crawling is all about.

My family and I are planning on coming. There will be 3 of us. Our cabin has already been reserved.

We were also registered last year, but had to cancel at the last minute due to technical difficulties with our truck. This year we're able to trailer it there and the gremlins have been fixed.
