I was curious before I went out and got new dustshileds/backing plates, how important are they? and do you need to run them? Thanks

I don't, the water washe's the rotor's off better, and rock's and stick's don't get caught in there, and make knarly grinding noise's. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif

i had them on there... but one time when i was spinning the rotor to see if they were draggin on the brakes, My finger got sucked up between the plate and the rotor tore the skin off the top of my finger down to my knuckle, I ripped those damn things off asap... Looks beyter with out them.

Ok cool. Got two more Dana 60 questions:

1. How do you get the spindle bearings out?

2. I got some overspray on my rotors, can I just install them and let the pads wear it off or will that contaminte them? Thanks

no dust shields on my D60. Mech said they arent really that vital and there are pros/cons to running with or without em, so I just ditched em. Still have em in a box somewhere tho...

Ran my D60 for two years without them.............no issues. Dump them. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Cool sounds good, one less thing to buy. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I am all the way down to only 1 Part left on my Dana 60 Build up! Brake Calipers.... I really didn't wanna have to waste more money on a part that I didn't need like some backing plates. Plus it'll make my rig more lightweight!
