A car guy I know has this up for sale, I might pick it up. 1988 Silverado crew cab dually, 454 fuel injected with tow package. Has been sitting for 8 years, they are replacing the gas tank and all the gas lines on it right now to try to get it running,

How much is this worth in your guys opinions?

Thank you. I started at 3 K and he said too low. It is 8 years late on registration, and also it will not pass Cali smog. I can handle Smog and reg for about 750, which only gives me 3200 if I want to get this for 4,000 out the door

Gotta agree with Beags here. 3-5k.

Miles and rust and how it actually drives once it is running will determine whether it is closer to 3 or 5...

Currently not running. They are putting a new gas tank in a new gas lines. I'm negotiating based on having it running upon purchase. This guy always gets me cars that have been sitting for a long time...

definitely a nice specimen. Wouldn't this be the perfect way for that truck truck to end up.

with the price of dually's today, you can do quite a bit of work to one before you even get close to the cost of even a nice used one..

I know I will be keeping mine for a long long time....40 - 50k + starting prices scare the hell out of me...

Agreed. The only items on my crew cab I haven't really touched (yet) are the front and rear diffs and the t-case, literally I've redone everything else from the 8.1 swap, to the NV4500 swap, to the cooling system, to the fuel system, to the interior redone, to the lift, tires, bumpers, paint, etc, etc, etc, and I'm roughly around a total of $13k - $14k into mine (over 4 years). Sure I don't have heated leather seats (could care less) or a backup camera (could care even more less), but it sure as hell is a lot cheaper than $45k, and is way cooler too

We know you secretly want OnStar.....

I gave $4800 for mine last fall with a decent body but some rust... For that I wouldn't be afraid to go $5k if you had too.

If I include the purchase price of the $5000 I paid for this truck close to 20-years ago, I have about $20,000 into this truck.

The other thing is, if you really wanted heated seats or a backup camera, or any of the other modern creature comforts, there are decent kits out there to add them.

Plus they will only go up in value if in good shape....that new $50k+ truck will only go down in value. At least thats how I would justify it.

I had the heating pads installed in my truck when I had the bench recovered. They work pretty good.

Heated seats are really nice to this old mans back on a cold day!

I had a 1977 C30 Dually with a 454/T400/Dana-70 once, and I lifted the truck instead of lowering it. I put a set of 1-inch lift blocks in the rear, and a set of new coil springs in the front. I then built my own 1-inch body lift with a stacks of 3-inch washers (this was back in the 80's before ORD or DIY4X4 existed). I then installed a set of Desert Dualers that where 33/12.50/16.5 with a small spacer between the rear rims.
