Not sure about your state, but ask about the back plates... Here in Iowa if it's more than 5 years behind, the slate is wiped clean. New plates cost is a normal year and a small like $30 reinstatement fee.

Not in California anymore, used to be like that but now they hold on to it.
I do remember there's a cutoff though, 2 or 3 years and it stops accruing
I paid 7,000 for mine, but for the great North East, it's solid! I looked at others for less, but they were far less truck than I got.
deal fell through. He said too many problems with the title, fees. I didn't even get to look at it
