Rear of 208 leaks a little, but the engine mysteriously quit and its got plenty of oil. It must be a miracle:D

One day I rotated the front drive shaft while working under the truck and my t-case front dive shaft seal started leaking like mad. I put a paper towel around the spot of the leak like a bandage. Then for some reason it stopped leaking and it never has again. WTF?

My engine has recently developed a small leak. Once in a while there is a small spot of oil under it and there is a little oil on the oil pan:eek1: . Prolly something very serious like a Bad cam,or port work needed on heads, maby a restricted intake, too low of a compression ratio could also be the problem. Oil leaks suck. Prolly one of the biggest power robbers that can happen........ Looks like its time for a rebuild .......... Muuuuu Ha ha .ha..

I agree 100%. There is nothing worse than seeing a sheen on the water after one of those Exxon Valdez buckets of loose bolts clambered through. When we wheel up here, the trail boss inspects all vehicles and won't hesitate to kick one to the curb if it is leaking. But tell me, is the train of thought different when rock crawling and/or otherwise staying clear of water? I have never wheeled where there was not going to be some kind of water crossing, ie creek, mud hole, flooded field etc.

Agree with both of these guys keep up the good ethics, clean up your spills.

I have always had problems with the ps pump leaking, working on it, know I have hydro assist too.

better thing for me to say, would be,,,,what DOESN'T leak:doah:

kinda old, but still true,,,

My 77 has a leaky PS pump, and a bit of a valve cover leak and my 89 leaks out the rear main something horrible but the 80 has no leaks at all.

Leak? What leak? Thats just sweat from all that horsepower and torque!

My 6.2 doesn't leave any drips or puddles, but it sweats oil all over the lower frame and front axle. It's weird, but every time I clean the engine, its all oily again in a few days. Im thinking its valve covers and maybe a bad oil filler neck seal. Valve covers are gonna be a pain on account of the injection lines, compressor bracket, etc.

Now thats just what you gotta tell the wife!:D

Mine seeps out of the rear pinion seal. Before I bought the guardsman I smashed the pinion support and damaged the cast. I filed it out as smooth as possible and replaced the seal. It seeps after a wheeling trip do to the oil heating up and thinning out a little. After the next day home it doesn't leak at all. Everything else is clean, but it wasn't always that way:)

My old GM's don't leak, they mark their territory!!! I actually had Yunit make me up stickers that say that. I have had to change oil just to get oil pressure on the trail truck. :haha: It doesn't really pour out fluid but it is pretty bad. I think my rear main seal is the worst. The crate engine in the garage should fix most of that though.

We talkin' only under the hood?

Do roof/window etc. count too? :D

I carry oil in 5qt jugs...got tired of them lil' single servings.
ATF by the 6 pack.
PS fluid by the quarts.
3 funnels to fit the different fillers.
Batman and Maxwell Smart are jealous of my blue smoke screen.:doah:

BUT....

NEW GMPP engine, rebuild of the TH350 and a new PS pump going on now. I'll just have to settle for interior leaks for a while. )

Now my 350 is leaking... But it looks like it is leaking in front of the pan. I am stumped now.

Assuming you mean TH350, it's probably a bad front pump/input shaft seal. Leaking from around the torque converter hub and dripping down. Only way to fix it is to pull the tranny (or the engine). If you mean 350 engine, it will be the timing cover seal.

I know my trans pan is leaking but I'm afraid the front seal might be bad, as well. I have the filter and pan gasket, so I guess I'll find out soon enough. Although I did have the scattershield off a little while back and it didn't look too bad inside the bell housing. *fingers crossed*

And yeah... water leaks to the interior like a rainforest. I can see daylight all the way around the tailgate. That's why I'll be replacing the floors pretty soon.

leaky leaky

PS pump leaks, PS gearbox, engine is good but it does burn a bit of oil(1 qt every other gas station visit), front trans seal leaking bad, 205 leaks from front and rear outputs (rear is the worst). Axles dont leave a drop behind.

well i have a purdy good leak that has got n alot worse this week my np205 has a good leak somewere i think the front output shaft, im leaving my trail all around j-ville. reckin i'll buy a gasket/seal kit for it. :D

my steering gear is leaking from every possible location, I have the infamous LT1 rear intake oil leak, and I have the first recorded SBC oil pan rusted through

I plan to fix the intake and oil pan soon, and am waiting on crossover to swap the box

My tranny leaked like a mofo when I got it. Got a non-aluminum pan and a new gasket, now no more leaks. But I think I have a problem with my pcv system as I lose around a quart of oil whenever I drive for 10-15 minutes at freeway speeds:angry1:
