I am curious as to how much money people have into their truck builds. I only built my truck because it was a vehicle that I have always wanted, and I was able to build it for less than I sold my then current daily driver to build. Here is what I have in total into the build of my truck (I have had it for about a month and a half now)...

Truck (1989 K5): $1400
Tires/Wheels (35/14.5/16 Boggers on 16x10 Pro Comp Wheels): $1500
3/4T Axles (Bought 1980 3/4t burb for $250, swapped axles with blazer, and then sold the Burb for $500):+$250!
Detroit Locker for 14B FF rear: $400
Interstate Battery: $100
Suspension lift (Rough country 4" all spring lift): $550 shipped
Misc. needed U-joints and stuff for conversion: ~$100
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Total = $3800

And here is the end result...

What do you have into your build?

I bought mine with a turbo diesel transplanted in it already and a 3" lift 33" tires and rancho 9000 shocks.
$1200
Broke the 203 so I replaced it with a 205, PNP $102
new tom woods driveshafts $275 + 285
I put lunch box lockers front and rear $450 for both
Put New 15x10 black rockcrawlers and 35" Xterrain on special from 4wps for $750
Didn't have any fan so when wheeling it overheated so I put an electric fan with external thermostat, $35 + $37
Broke the frame at the steering box on the con, bought a comealong from a guy on the trail $40 and put it together with bailing wire $5
Went back home and put a weld on patch. $65
I wheeled the piss out of it for 5 years and that with 30MPG :D
Total $3244
Not too bad :D

i have a feeling mine is also around 20K total if you include the old stuff that is not on there anymore that i really didn't make anything back on...like my front 10b that had 700$ into it and sold it for 250, lost 450$ on that deal.

theres about 5500 in the current cammed 5.3 vortec/built 80e/np241. 3 grand in D60 + steering, 1700 in my 14bff with locker and disc brakes. 6000$ for the truck when i got it because it was in great shape. That doesn't even include suspension and TONS of other misc stuff... its easy 20K

How Much $$$ In Your Build?

That's like asking a woman her age. :haha:

At any rate at the last glance i had close to 15K into mine not including the purchase price. Now if you want to count my new engine (not installed yet) and also my doubler (not installed yet) i would be much closer to 22K.

Not so much cash, as labor... maybe 6 g's all told with purchase and maintenence...

hrs? probably over a thousand at this point..

need to crack open the wallet and step up tho this year...

NEVER, NEVER add up the reciepts!:D I only save them for reference or returns. A quick add up of the larger items nets over $20k in mine. That is not counting the $750 I gave for it. Only thing left that is stock is the tub & frame.

Ouch! Not sure I want to think about it!
Purchase price: $4400 (too much!)
Parts collected thus far: $15000 (approx.)
So, might as well say: $20000
For a garage ornament! Since I shattered my wrist, nothing's in/on! I'm healing up though so, sometime soon, it'll be sweet!:D

I would say Im just under 10k right now. Still need to build a 203/205 doubler, d-shafts, shocks, and various odds and ends. So probably another 3k and it will be trail ready (finally!!!)

Probably between 3 to 5K but I am on my Third set of tires and second clutch as I have been wheeling it for 9 years. I have everything but the adapter plate now for a doubler and would like a high steer set up so I am not done yet. :doah: I can't begin to guess at the hundreds of hours. And that is just 1 of my 77 Jimmys . I have 3 rigs that I have swapped complete drivelines(2 axles, trans, transfer c.,engines) into more than 1 time per vehicle.:D

Over 10k and hope not to hit 15k:rolleyes:

There is a couple grand in there for tools though.

I'm paying $180 a month for a garage to keep it in and looks like I'll be close to 2 years in the build before I'm finished.

Lots of incidentals too. Currently I'm giving a friend $100 to use his pressure washer. The wand is like 5' long so I'll end up putting out another $50 - $60 to get one that's shorter and useful on my frame & body on jackstands. The little things are adding up:rolleyes:

Mine's not a restoration but I'm guessing I'm 3/4 of the way there. I just hope it works out:haha:

Some of you guys have a serious amount of money in your trucks! I think alot of you are adding up every dollar you have spent over time. I started the thread thinking more along the lines to show how much you had in your truck currently (With just parts that are currently on the truck). A pic of some of these trucks after the description would be nice to show what you can do with how much money if starting from scratch. I am big into planning the vehicle build ahead of time, and trying to stick as close to it as possible to refrain from buying the same parts twice (For example, buying a set of new tires, then being unhappy with them, and having to buy another set to get the size that you really want).

That's why you see my numbers are low, I just get what I need and work with what I have untill I destroy everything :D
Now the only thing I have left from mine is the engine that will be going to another truck, which was purchased cheap.
I don't know how I will assign the $$ to that engine though, it's worth lots of $$ but the whole truck I bought it with was $1250 :D

My numbers are true numbers with current parts installed. Actually, the only thing i've ever done was replace my tires once but i've only included the tire price once.

Everything adds up quick. I included what it cost to build what I have and subtracted what I sold, such has the 10 bolt front (sold for $200) was replaced with a D60 ($1600) so the axle cost me $1400. Same with the engine etc. Rough numbers are below.

Burb - $4700
454 - $2800
4L80e - $2650
CompuShift - $1100
NP205 - $700
D60 - $1400
14bFF w/ disc - $650

That's $14,000 not including having all the window motor replaced, door hinges rebuilt and doors realigned etc. It adds up quick. Once it is all complete though I should have a decent Burb.

Damn, did you pay 4700 for a burb with no engine tranny transfer case? or did you change all of them?
I could have bought a really clean burb with a 350 700 208 for under $200 if I wanted to replace everything. :eek1:
