How Much $$$ In Your Build?

The Burb was an 80k mile truck. Had engine and all, I just wanted a bullit proof drivetrain. Why would want a 350 700r4 208 10b & 14bsf when you could have what I have / am putting together?

How often do "cherry" '73 blazers come around for $5k?

Damn, did you pay 4700 for a burb with no engine tranny transfer case? or did you change all of them?
I could have bought a really clean burb with a 350 700 208 for under $200 if I wanted to replace everything. :eek1:

Show me a really clean Burb for under $200 or even $2000. We are talking absolutely no rust in this body and or frame.

Take a look at the build pics. This is a '85 K20 Silverado Loaded. Even has the rear heat.

I think you're forgetting where imiceman44 and i live. Here in California nothing has rust. There are plenty of burbs around here for under $2000 that run and are rust free.

Typo, I was typing $2000, I find them all the time, but I alreay have 2 that I got for less than that and have everything I wanted.
Just saying that 4700 is a lot to put an a vehicle that only will keep the body and interior.

Last year I was going to buy a 91 sub cherry but no running gear for $1000, they are out there but when you are in a hurry you pay big $$ I know I have done it before.

I sopped counting between the last thread on this subject and now . The new reality is I could put new sheetmetal , and interior on , and still not sell it for 1/2 of what I probably have it in now . And I have a pretty basic full bodied wheeler .

Truck ( 6900 when looking clean ) , upgrades ( lost count ) , and spare parts ( OMFG I collected spares ) probably goes over 20K now :eek1:

I think I'm around 10K into my 1986 K2500. I owned the truck for 5 years and sold it to a friend only to buy it back about 3yrs later when he went to Afghanistan. I'm not counting any money I put into the truck during previous ownership. This is the monies I have into it now...and I still haven't driven it... but it is ready for paint. This isn't a wheeling truck..it has sentimental value. This truck put me through college plowing snow and mowing lawns so I thought I owed it.

Purchased truck and 8' Fisher plow (separate) $1500
I bought a '91 Blazer from a friend for wiring and the clip $600
Swapped the rear for a 14FF gov-lock, had it, new brakes $100
Completely rebuilt the 10bolt front w/Auburn posi and 30spline shafts $700
Installed new springs front and rear $600
Replaced all the body mount brackets on the frame (parts blazer)
Installed all prothane bushings $200
Blasted and painted chassis $300
Bought a rust free cab on ebay $150
Bought a rust free set of doors, fenders $300
NOS GM inner fenders $100
Purchase 5.7 vortec core block $50
Rebuilt 5.7 vortec to roller 383 $1500
TBI intake for vortec heads $300
Oversize TB and intake machining $200
Tranny rebuild (all red eagle..lil overboard) $1200
Rear driveshaft $100
New plow pump, controls, hoses $600
New alternator $135
60/40 bench out of a silverado $100
New headliner $150
Hydraboost setup and ne PS pump $100
New exhaust, 3" y-pipe, cat, flomaster delta 40 $375
Like new reading Flatbed w/new lights $600
Custom E-prom chip $135
Hood $100
Earls custom stainless brake hoses $100
Stainless brake lines $200
Walbro fuel pump $80
4 core radiator $300
New PS box $150

And I'm sure there is more..I'm actually scared to add it all up. These are the things I could think of off-hand.

85 Blazer- $1000
i could list all the stuff i did to it but most were donor parts from another truck. i mean if i was to add up all the piddly stuff i'd easily have close to $2,500 and my blazer hasn't really changed that much

sm465-came with truck
-close to $400 to install everything new
205-came with truck
front driveshaft-$75
reardriveshaft-$90
countless numbers of u-joints- close to $100
extra front and rear- $100

ok i tired of listing stuff. my heads hurting now. anyhow too much to list

I am located around seattle, and it is very easy to find mintish suburbans on CL with no rust that need a trans or something for under $1K. We dont get the rust problems up here like you do, and with the gas prices now, people are just giving these things away! My brother just bought a minty, rust free '89 fully loaded silverado suburban for $1400...

The original acquisition cost of my '72 K5 (in 2001) was $7000.

I've spent multiples of that number since on new engine, axles, tires, wheels, gauges, etc.

BUT,

I'll bet I could sell it now for $4000 easy....

That tells the story the best!

That is why I try not to sink lots of money in mine, I have yet to lose on a vehicle since I came to CA.
Buy cheap make some improvements, get parts trucks instead of parts, sell parts to make up the purchase price and you get the parts free...
Before I came here I used to cutomize cars and use them and then sell them for a loss, I learned my lesson.
:D

Well if you add up current stuff just cash wise hmmm this should be interesting most are close estimates
Blazer 500
Tires and wheels 1200
beadlocks 200
one tons freebie
front detroit 400
steering 400
rebuilt trans 150
springs freebie
misc steel 150
stuff I am sure I am forgetting 500

so total is around 2500

now in reality with all the stuff I have put on and taken off and sold or traded I have nearly 10 grand into it with about another 7 or 8 grand to go inlcuding my next set of tires. This is over about 7 years

i'll take it :D

Just wait a minute......I bought a bunch of parts that I haven't installed yet.

There's a freshly built 502 in the garage, a bad-daddy TH400 and an Atlas4 (5.44:1, 2.72:1, 2:1, 1:1) that still need to go in.

May have to increase the selling price to $4500!!! :D

tell you what i'll do. i'll give you 4350 if you promise to throw in a keychain :D haha

Due to the fact that I have bought/sold/traded parts to put it together it would be impossible to put a $$$ amount on it.I figure it would cost 10-12K to duplicate it if I was to start over.
