How not to tune a qjet

I'm amazed the guy could keep a straight voice thru it.... I know he says in the comments it was pitted, but I hate to see ANY good quad parts get destroyed...

btw, why not just buy Doug Roe's book on quads for $15 instead of hunting youtube for advice? anything you'd ever wanna know about em in that book..

I've got Doug Roe's book and some other books also. Still it is difficult to understand. Nothing is as good as seeing a video or a step by step write up. Roe's but has much more on theory then a step by step guide.

it's always answered any question I've ever had about em... then again, I probably rebuild 20 a yr... one of the advantages/disadvantages of being in the marine biz...

I've probably got 2 milk crates full of cores and parts at work...

hmm youtube wouldn't let me see it...:dunno:?

I'm no fan of Q jets but, why is he removing the choke plate?? Drilling holes in the secondaries??? Why the hell doesn't he use PROPER tools????:eek1: I'm sorry but I couldn't watch the rest of the vid, it's amazing how much stupid is out there:doah:

it was a poor joke... quads are the best carb ever for anything stock to mild.. no contest...

If I had to choose between a Q jet or a Rochester I will definitely go with the Q jet...I would rather go with Edlebrock performance carb/ Carter AFB (yeah Ford got something right), more tuning options with needles and jets, but that's just me...

Arent they Rochester Quadrajets?

yes...

and Quads are just about infinitely adjustable with their jets, rod and hangar selection...

I see Carters and quads EVERY day, I'll take the quad any day....

Try doing any kind of off roading with an edelbrock or carter AFB. You wont like having to restart your truck with your nose pointed up or down at angles. Pretty scary. Or the 1000 RPM idle it takes to keep them going. They are decent bolt on and go street carbs but NOT off road carbs.

not to mention the Carter design has more failpoints than a quad.... overly engineered imo...
