Growing up I was taught oil filters only need changed every other oil change. I change em every time now. But my wife's car is due and I have oil but we're to lazy to go get a filter. So what say you?

I’ll admit that I’ve changed the oil without changing the filter but that was a shitbox that I didn’t care about.

I’ve got 4K miles on my mustang and the computer says filter life is 58%.

Sounds like every other to me if you subscribe to 3k mile oil changes.

Never done that, just playing devils computer advocate.

Alright alright, it was a chore but at least I got a beer out of it. Had me an excuse to drop by a friend's house. Changed the damn filter. And no, it wasn't a fram.

This got me some free shop time too. Don't tell my wife.

Well if she hasn't missed you yet, I'd probably not worry bout it....

That percentage likely reflects the fact that many car manufacturers suggest oil changes at 7500 miles.

Edit: I’m not saying that it’s the best maintenance schedule, I’m just sayin.

Wife's got a 2015 Honda Accord. Always ran conventional every 3000. Or so....
