So I figure I'll give him my 6 ton stands so he can get rid of the blocks, and what does he do instead?

I don't care what kind of vehicle it is, I wouldn't let my cat crawl under that thing, let alone get my body under it. Sorry that is about as unsafe as you can get for holding a vehicle up. That big wooden block would be more secure than what he has there.

I have done it when I was in a pinch but only one jackstand not 4. I left the jack under their just in case, and was still scared. Got some good stands now rather spend the 40$ then get squished

Is that a metal pole holding up the front end in the first pic? And are those blocks really two separate pieces, and not one single block each? Is this guy crazy, what's that 2,000 lbs?

Yup those look like cement footings for a deck stacked upside down on each other. There is a cross cut out of the cement for stringers right where he has them stacked on each other. Prolly just a few square inches of contact between those blocks.
