HOW?? TO CONVERT FROM METALIC BUSHINGS TO \"RUBBER\" ON 66 4x4 SUBURBAN

Can someone please tell me how I can switch to rubber/poly/urethane type front leaf bushings on a 66 Chevy Suburban stock 4X4 and get away from bronze/brass type. What is the first year of rubberized and what part do I need. Can I de-rivet a shackle from some year and bolt it on? And use new type springs? What year do I need? Why doesnt some company make a "rubber" replacement?

Rubber sucks. It seizes and then it doesn't work at all. It will also soak up oil and deteriorate.

Poly might wear out but at least it doesn't seize up or deteriorate from grease.

What I'm trying to say is: How do I get away from the old metal bushing setup and get to NON-METALIC? Like all the other trucks/blazer/etc in later years. I dont mean to discuss what kind of NON-METALIC bushing to use.

I wish I knew, but I know nothing about the older than 1967 chevys.

The stock ones are rubber and in the aftermarket you can get them in poly.

If you're willing to re-engineer your suspension to a newer or different setup, you can fit any suspension you desire to your truck.

I'm really not understanding your question. This what I've gathered:

1. Rubber/poly is not available for your current springs
2. You want to change this
3. Your question seems to be, "Can this be done?"

Answer to that question is yes, it can. As to how, I don't know without being able to see it at least as I don't know what is under your truck. Do you have any pictures of your current suspension you could supply us?
