going to pick up an 81 K30 crew cab dually with a utility tool box bed tomorrow. going to rent a 20' trailer, no winch. think a bigass comealong will do the job? what about the cheap winch at harbor freight? any other ideas? have acess to a tractor..... what about jack-knifing the trailer and pulling it up with the tractor?

Use the tractor as you mentioned. I've done the same several times using either a tractor or another truck, no problems.

i loaded a toyota ext truck with a come a long. what i did was use two big straps on the front tow hooks going back to the como a long and then connect to the front of the truck. slowly but surely click by click it came up onto the trailer. now i know your truck will weigh more but this was a baby come a long and i think if you get a heavy one you can do it. just put a jacket on the cable incase it snaps it wont hit you.

I ended up getting ahold of a gear reduction chain come along. worked quite well. inch by inch by inch for about 45 minutes. had trouble keeping it straight with one flat tire, once we flattened both of them, worked better. this sonofabitch is heavy.

Bring the wife along..... tell her you'll steer and she can push.:haha:
