on the crapper...
Genius that I am, I sold the axles and wheels and tires out from under the Blazer I am parting out, and then called up the scrap metal people to come take away the rusted hulk on Monday. Hmmm, now how to get it out of the garage.

Optimistic me: This is what I came up with.

Two $9.99 Harbor Freight furniture dollies rated at 1000 lbs. Some MDF to spread the load and a strategically placed hole.

Pessimistic me: What is it for?

Umm do you really think that will hold up a Blazer? Assuming it does, that takes care of the rear, but what about the front?

And how are you gonna get it down the driveway without it ending up in the living room of the house across the street? (The driveway is steeper than it looks.)

You're crazy that will never work.

I knew it would work.

Sure you did.

What if the scrap people don't show up. The neighbors will be pissed.

You just don't quit do you?

Please tell me there was some hideous amounts of rust somewhere on that blazer!!!

Good thinking on the dollies. Looks like it worked well. No it didn't. Yes it did.

Ok, I gotcha. You're right, some photos it looks really nice.

thats in good shape compared to 3/4s of the ones around here....

yeah wow. ive seen some way worse K5's than that. ive seen ones that shouldn't be inspected and ones that shouldn't even be used as yard trucks in the junkyards they were so bad. the rockers, doors, and quarters still look good on it

Tell us about that black car beside the rusty hulk.

To me, it looks like a '67 Fairlane.

ThatK30Guy is right. It's a '67 Fairlane.

I don't have any pics of it, but the area under the front seats of the rusty Blazer is completely gone. Some PO welded in what looks like pieces of a car roof (they're red) to cover the holes. I don't think the rust damage is from road salt. It looks like the power windows didn't work for a (long) while and the carpet stayed wet. The worst spots are there by the tailgate and under the front seats.

If somebody wants it and is willing to pick it up today. Come get it. :D

i still see some good parts on that yet. you keeping the steering box, master cylinder? not even keeping the rear springs?

Too late. It brought $93.60 at the scrap yard (after deducting their $30 pick-up fee).

I figure 4WD steering boxes are a dime a dozen. I had considered pulling out the AC stuff, brake MC/booster, and the rear springs, but my impact wrench didn't make much of an impression on the spring bolts and by then I was too low on time and motivation to try anything else. I already have half the garage packed with stuff I pulled off and will prolly never be able to sell. :doah:

x2.. until I saw the later pics, I was gunna say, "send me that tub!"

my blazer is in 10 times worse shape then that thing and im adding metal to it like a fool hoping it will role under its own power one day one can only hope

I had thought about trying to weld in patch panels, but quickly realized that I am in over my head as it is. I'll be lucky to get my "good bodied" blazer working the way I want :doah:
