how to paint over chrome??

so people will say different but what i had success with and lasted 10 years, just sant the chrome with 80 grit then 180 grit sandpaper, and basically when the chrome isnt shiney anymore its good.
spray some primer on there and its good to go.
i had a nissan truck that had chrome bumpers that i wanted to paint the same color as the body and thats what i did, i finally gotten rid of the truck this past spring and the paint was still on there good.
if you have a D/A sander that would be great to use, otherwise if you have just a palm sander or half sheet sander for wood working, that would work also.
