how to run stock humvee rims on your rig (pics & info added)

Which axles did you use? I assume the D70.

I did this same thing, but I used the 70 hubs and drums with a 1.75" spacer on each side. I think I will do the hub swap when I do the disk convertion.

Boz, do you still have those pics?

Here are some pics, don't remember if they are the same pics. If u want to see something else odds are I have it on the old puter. Just let me know.

Dual rear wheel rear hub

Keep in mind 14 bolts got either a drw or srw hub depending on application. The d70hd only came w/ the drw hub. The srw hub has a wider track width than the drw hub. You can see this in the pics by looking at the distance between the wheel mounting surface & the axle mounting surface. The hubs are inter-changable without any mods.

Same hub w/ h-1 wheel mounted. This pic shows how far the lockout prtrudes from the wheel.

can the same rear swap be done an a rear 60 or whats the advantage of the 70 besides the bigger axle tubes

Everything on the d70 is bigger. The shafts on a dana60 are usually 30 spline and aren't very strong when compared to a 14bff or d70 axles.
And I beleive the bigger tubes are only on the HD version of the dana70

A 70 is a dually axle and has the extra width needed for this swap. To my knowledge 60s never came in a wide dually.

Just so other members don't get confused, not all 70s are duallys. There are srw d70's.

The rear axle I speak of is a D70HD. It is the onnly extra wide 70 & the only 70 that has 4" tubes. Only available under Fleetside DRW trucks from mid 70's to mid 80's possibly to '91.

i had a line on a rear d60 out of a 91 dually thought it might work guess not.
what about widening the 14 bolt know one has done it on here yet or not cost effeciant.

Any 60 under a 73+ dually has been swapped in and is not a true dually axle. Could it be you're looking at 70's? The diff cover is the same.

As for widening axles, just about every combination of anything has been done here at least once. As for what to do with the 14 bolt it depends on which one you have.
