A slightly wrecked 2006 chevy 1500 came in to the shop late in the week with the plan for an axle swap. Physically doing it is easy, but what about some electronics?

It will be getting superduty tons and 37s or so. It has the autotrac tcase which will need the front slip yoke eliminator to sas it. Id like to maintain that case just so we don't have to source a 241 swap at the same time.

What do I do about that case to make it function correctly or better said, like a normal case?

What is the abs system like for the half ton? How does it even work?

Lots of info about the hd trucks but I haven't found alot of the 1500 yet.
Thanks for any guidance or info.

Shawn, Supersize75k5, battled with this on his ‘07 2500 2wd he did a SFA on. Don’t remember if he ever got it right.

You can machine "bumps" into the hubs to maintain ABS. There are several builds on the web that have accomplished this.

And they don't offer a SYE for the autotrack case as far as I know. And it's a pos honestly anyways.

The hd trucks aren't much different besides the taller frame and bigger rear axle. Look on pirate 4 or 5 of them are 1500s. I think you will be pulling that autotrac for a 241 even when you don't want too, simple easy swap. The auto trac is not a case anyone really uses, seems to have problems when big tires are added. You just need a 27 spline 241 with the front flange, maybe 94-95ish. If you don't feel like searching Look on ebay or just chevy trucks.com. That adding a slip yoke eliminator to the front out put just plain sucks and with an electronic shift case you can only fit a 1310 joint. Alot of guys do away with the abs, doesn't work so hot anyway. For the abs if its a newer superduty axle then just buy the wfo adapters and plug the superduty sensors into the stock harness.

For the suspention what way are you planning to go..? 4 link, radius arms,leafs...? If you are doing leafs source and axle that had them to make it easier, if you do a ford 60 78-79 you can use the wfo abs bolt on kit. if 4 link or radius arms then the superduty newer axles are great for that and are pretty tough.

For instance everything works on my 2500hd,(except the blown 6.0) abs works like stock and i have a 79 60. I used a reman 241 and removed all the electronics from the 263 that was in it. 263 isn't much different than the 241, the chain width is about it. Get a shifter and cut the floor, the floor even has a stamp in it for it, little saw action and a few bolts. They make a change pocket to put in the dash where the 4wd switches were.
