So i was driving her home from work today and i noticed the window was alot harder to roll up. When i looked the hand crank is loose on the door so it wobles and just makes it difficult and looks like its putting way too much stress on a failing part. Upon quick inspection i didnt find how it was connected, so im not even sure whats loose or how to correct it? Is it just a snap on thing or what? Im looking to order a new tailgate crank, cable, and an interior peice for the drivers side door from lmc, im wondering if i should add the handcrank to the list?

If you're talking about the driver or pass window, the handle is held on with a wire ring, kind of like a cheapo snap ring, that holds the handle on. You can replace the wire ring; the part is in any auto parts store. If the tines on the window handle itself are worn, you can get a new handle at any auto parts store too.

If you're talking about the rear tailgate window crank, I found it easiest to just replace it with one from LMC. Pretty easy to install once you see it.

Thank you for that quick reply! Do i just rip it off and put it on with brute force or is there a way to do it? There seems to be so many little things breaking on my truck now im afriad to do any more harm. Thanks again! i know i ask alot of you guys. :(

From this I guess you are talking about the doors and not the tail gate.
They make a tool to remove the spring clamp item 27 or if you have a crochet hook in the house you can use that. I use a pair of long nose needle nose to do it myself.

Here is a pic from LMC showing it all. The clamp is item 25.

If it is the tail gate I have the manual from GM scanned showing that too.

Ahhh so thats the little bugger. Ill try to get in there and deal with it, the tools only 5 bucks so i guess i can do that too. Thanks!

You can do it with anything flat. I use a flat blade screwdriver. Push the door panel back so you can see it, may need to move piece 26 out of the way with the blade, then push off one side of the clip, roll the crank a bit, then push that side off as well. Door handle pulls right off. I've got the tool, so far I find it easier to do it with the screwdriver.

Reinstall you put the clip on the crank, and smack it on the post.

If the post itself is loose, I believe you have to replace the whole regulator, unless you can get just pieces of it.

Make sure the mechanism is lubed well everywhere, if it's hard to roll up or down, you've either got worn/broken parts (like part 18) or just need lube.

yeah the post itself looked a little loose upon inspection. I think the handle may be worn, i ordered a replacement handle so ill see when i get it. Thanks for the help everyone.
