How trick is my rig?

avarage buildup, my 1990 is set up almost the same except i have a full cage and full conver't conversion on my daily driver, he he my johnson is bigger than yours is, just kiddin. we will all eventually have the same stuff.

It is funny how we all think our rigs don't have it. I can remember being 16 and a tricked out rig was a fullsize on 44's, springs like bricks, and a 3 tube show bar. Man has the addiction came a long way. It sounds like you all have some tough rigs that will never be done. Good example is Money Pit project rig, always going the next step. Cool though.

If you ain't hurt, you ain't playin' hard enough.

Ive seen the truck inperson and its one great rig! Very clean. BTW, hows those tires working for ya? I know a guy with a set of rear 4.10's. I was gonna buy them but I dont need them since you have my tires. :)
His brother is on here, if I can find his e-mail Ill send it to ya.

Dan, that's my ideal set up for a Chevy truck.

Just wished you had 38's to fill the fenders a little.

I'm building my '82 K30 along the same amount of lift like yours.
Drivetrain is the same, too. 454, 465, 205, D60, 14FF, 4.10's, and I'm gonna run 38" Radial Swampers.

Now I just need to get the damn thing built!

Trick? Please! Your truck sucks!

Just kidding dude.

You've got one bad ass blazer there.
cool.gif

That is sweet... My K/5 is also my daily driver to and from work and college like you... However you probally have a tougher time affording it with a 454... Compared to my 355.
Eventually I'll have a big block in my Blazer but I don't think I will build it mild enough to be my daily driver still... we'll see.
Hell, the price of gas is going down right? so why not!?!
Sweet rig dude... as if you have to ask... go take it for a drive and when you get those people giving you looks and thumbs up at stoplights you know it's pretty "trick".
Take it easy.

pretty freakin awsome! Hey , the fender trimming isn't really that hard , I just got through cutting mine. It looks awsome and gains alot of clearance. All you need is a cut off tool, some air, string and marking stone to mark with. the rest is a piece of cake. By the way, I would be interested in seeing your bumpers. I'm also going to fab a front and possible a rear bumper. I'd like to try to incorporate the military style grill guard I have to the bumper. Just thought I would check out your ideas. Keep up the good work!

88 K5... work in progress, hey I still got this wierd thing under my name. what Am I ? lol!

are those tires from a matchbox car? j/k seriously though, i think you could use a little more meat under thre wells. i have 2\3 the lift you do, and 38.5's

imho

wheelers hate posers.

Maybe a better question would be, "Is it trick enough for you?" That my friend, in MY book is VERY trick. I was wonderint when you would post pics of your rig. I kept trying to check out your little signature pic but i got tired of squinting. Keep it up, mine is my only means of transportation also.

Honestly I think your rig sounds great, but If I were to change anything it would be regearing and 39.5 swamper boggers...
but really your rig is what most of us strive to acheive(myself as well)...but don't tell anyone that is our secret!

why not try those 37 inch boggers? they are in bettween and maybe no cutting is needed

16, 88 jimmy, kearning, but still need help

Well heck I can find 4.10's all day long. I do business on occasion with a guy in Duluth that actually has a set front and rear 3/4 tons for 350 bucks. I may need the front axle stuff so might be able to work out a deal where I'd take the front and you could have the rear. I gotta double check the 4.56's I'm getting... not sure if the frt one is 6 or 8 lug. I also know Kevin here in the cities has a 4.10 14B. You could also check w/ DRAGE (Brent) He has a 14B FF w/ 4.10's I think and he is in Eastern WI... Janesville I think. I believe it is a gov lock though. He might also know someone closer with an open version.

RGF, How in the heck can you tell he's got a furd 60 from the pins out?

Krazie, Looks good man. From the one shot it looks like you aren't running a sway bar. Are you?

Dual piston calipers, also the tie-rod on the Ford is on the bottom of the knuckle ends and GM is on the top!

not bad for a college rig! sh!t, i had a crappy s-10 with the killer 2.8l when i was in college. i remember this guy in my apartment complex that had a bad ass full convertable k5, bright yellow with big ass tires. he used to cruise around with the top off all the time- man was i jellouse! that must have planted the k5 seed in my mind.

nice rig- really

I pulled the sway bar before the truck ever hit the road. I took it out when I installed the D60. Figured that if I never drove the truck with it, I wouldn't miss it when I did the crossover!

where did you get dual piston calipers for your dana60? Im interested. did you get them from a parts store? What brand? easy install?

chrome sucks

You can get 'em at most good parts stores... They come off the front of an '80 Furd F350. I think you would have to have the correct knuckles for them to work though... As stated above, my D60 is Furd from the Kingpins out. Other than the dual piston calipers, I can't really think of any other advantages. I got the entire axle in trade for a running 454, a TH400/NP205 T&T, an 8-lug 10b, and a open 14bff.
wink.gif
So I didn't complain too much! I'm sure its worth at least $1000 to the right person...

Anyhow, hope that helps!!! Let me know if you have any other questions!

As for the Ford vs Chevy outers, there is a disadvantage to the Ford stuff. With Chevy and Dodge outers, you can easily run an off the shelf spicer 35 spline outer shaft, with Ford you either have to go to a custom shaft (big bucks) or pull some other hokey stuff (don't know the details, somebody was talking about it on Pirate one day). As for the dual piston calipers, some say they are harder to fit a 15" wheel over, some say easier, I've never tried. But most people say they stop better.
