In building my crew cab I have lots of plans and ideas to make it better. Then my baby bro mentioned that alot of these mods I want to do wont even be noticed by most people. Stuff like rear disk brakes doubler tranfer case ect. that the average person wouldnt even notice. They will look at this big ugly truck and think wow what a junker/beater/redneckmobile.

Thats kinda cool when you think about it its like stealth tech lol. I mean even those of us here know what makes an off road truck "cool" still cant look at a rig and see all the trick stuff going on. with the exeption of air/cable/elect. lockers you cant look at a axle and say "oh yea thats got a detroit in it"

Hmmm posted in the wrong forum.......

Who cares what other people think? My theory is that I dont care what the people that like exterior "Bling" think anyway.

All I care about is what you guys think anyway ( and by you guys I mean knowledgeable folks) If someone doesn't know anything about trucks then its just the look that your truck has half of the world will like it half won't.

Also I don't think my truck is very trick but I know poeple who do

Notice I said trick not bling. Im talking about stuff that would go un-noticed by all but the hardcore wheelers. Personaly my crew cab wont look like much even in the off road comunity, but should be pretty high in the mod department.

Hell just the fact that I converted from 2wd to 4wd seams impossible in some of my friends eyes, but I did it. I have had several people just shake their heads and say what the hell are you doing, why dont you just buy a jeep.

Kinda lame but I was just pointing out that we should pat our selves on the back for the stuff you never see.

I know exactly what you are saying. And I don't like being the arse that has to point out all the cool stuff on their own truck.

Some guy on a motorcycle at least recognized I had something more than stock axles. Although he thought they were Rockwell axles. I told him, "Nah, just axles out of a 1ton truck." He said something to the effect of "Damn their big."

I just did the rear disc brake thing. I think it's cool riding around in an old truck with 4-wheel disc brakes. Too bad I'm the only one that knows how cool I am. :haha:

Yip, know what ya mean. My truck looks basically stock other than HD bumpers, but there is alot hidden, so I have to explain all the mods. Chromoly axles, locker, 2" spring lift, etc etc.

I go for function over form in most cases, and don't give a rat's arse what anyone else thinks. Hardcore wheelers, and even mediocre wheelers like myself, would immediately notice disc brakes and a double. Plus, components like that make your rig more capable while wheeling, and are certainly for more than just impressing people.

I wanna put a sticker on my rig that says "Will hook chains with anyone, anytime, anywhere..." But in reality, its those moments when you crawl over/through something that other people are having trouble with or you pull someones rig unstuck with ease that make it all worth it.

I got a "trick" Idea ive been thinking about. I have a cab truck with a fuel cell between the frame rails in the rear and if I can find another place to put the fuel tank I wanna be able to lift up the small flat bed and have a grill under there. And eventually I'll have the rig running on Propane, so it could be a propane grill and everything.

Mine is getting tricker by the day, and looks worse after every trip. I really don't care what people think about it, its for me. My DD is the same way, the engine compartment is spotless and the exterior never gets washed.

People tend to notice on the trails....

What I hate is when someone who seems to know a little will ask about your rig but then acts like your lying when you've got something better than 3.73's, etc..

Ain't a damn thing really trick in my rig , unless you count the radio remote velcroed to the console so I don't have to reach the dash to change folders on the mp3's .

Everything is simple , just basic tried and trued . Just lockers , lift , axle gears , and a lot of seat time . Due to cash flow , I am one of the ones having fun with what I got . And I have a lot of fun .

I do have disc brakes , chromos , and crossover in the works ( have my knuckles done :pimp: ) .

Its funny how little mods can make a huge differnce, I went with greasable spring/shackle bolts and I have already read some of you guys getting alot more travel with them instaled. Likewize front and rear lockers in an otherwize stock rig will most times out wheel a rig thats lifted and stuff but dont have lockers.

when i do my next truck it will mostly be the inviso mods because if i knew then what i know now...
