Howdiymobile....

I love where this build is going :waytogo:
Keep up the good work!

To gusset or not to gusset?
I think I may just leave it for now and gusset it when I do coilovers

I would gusset the upper shock mount right away, or maybe remake it in some other way.
Even when it don't have to carry the trucks weight, it sees a lot of shock load (pun intended ;) )

Yeah, probably a good idea. Miles well get it out of the way instead having it break off on a trail. Plus I will only have to paint it once

I think I'll plate the triangle and do a rectangle tubing gusset like the others

I've gotta gusset the cross bar also, along with cut it out and make flanges. Let someone borrow the plasma cutter and they screwed the tip up and I don't have any. They are really expensive :eek1:

Hopefully my seat comes soon, pretty much just waiting on that now

Thanks

Front cage is basically done, Just need to mount my fans then pull them and the radiator and weld everything I can't get to. I need to pull the steering box to get a gusset and finish welding the down tube right there also

Looks way too busy :haha:

Kind of compromised with the shock mount gusset

Front is just about done, I've gotta cut out the cross bar and weld on some flanges to make it removable. I just ordered them the other day.

Then I've gotta pull the radiator and steering box for final welding

I've got about 5 more bars to do tomorrow out back.

Looks really good, but how are you going to remove the engine? Everything seems to be welded around it.

I'm going to cut that cross bar out and make it removable

Otherwise the front tubing is actually lower than the factory core support

.095 material is 100x nicer to work with

I got a plus 3" seat, I think this will go to the passenger side and I'm gonna get a custom +6" or 7" seat.

I'm only 6'2 but this seat only comes to the base of my skull

I'm going to plasma out the hump in the floor, I wanna lower the seat a little and I'm going to tie it into the frame in 4 more places

Finished the welding up front, painted it and mounted the fans and radiator. The rest of the front is about ready for paint also

Ground a few more tubes, felt lazy today

Thanks

I think these are the only other bars that I'm going to add [other than a few inside]

Back isn't bad to get in how it is right now, but I continue the tube and make an X I think it will be a PITA. I've gotta compromise somewhere because I haven't compromised anywhere yet :haha:

Have you thought about using the swing out door bar kit from jegs. Most drag cars use them. Sorry, but I'm too lazy to search the kit

I am actually thinking about making a swing out bar to lean on. I'll most likely make it myself though. Don't really have any good ideas for it at the moment though

I'll be fine getting in the the slanted bar

I think I am going to cut out the tubes in the middle of the cage, I hate having that bar run right behind my head.

Theres just 3 tubes right now, It will be a PITA, but I think I'll be much happier with it

You can kind of see what I mean here

I'll cut them out and tubes coming up from the frame to middle in a triangle shape

Like this in the middle

Basically like this for the middle

I'll probably do it with 1.5" DOM

Sawzalled them out, much better. I'm going to add two tubes from the frame to the cross bar.

Smoothing everything out is going to be fun, I'm thinking I can cut a lot of with the plasma

I'm just concerned that I don't have enough lateral support in the middle and the front, Everything will be up and down now

P1000220.jpg

Kind of like this, I'll probably angle it towards the middle more. I'll sit in the back and see what comfortable
