hub experts needed... desperate help is needed!!!

Anybody know what it is that fails in the auto hubs? Can they be repaired?

31 pieces is not exactly K.I.S.S. (OK 26 if you don't count the wheel bearing retainer and the emblem).

For the greater good - why not tear your broken one down to see what is messed up?

I think a lot of it is dependent on the springs. Dirt, grease or rust simply binds them up and they don't engage.

I'm sure plenty here have actually broken them, but when I pulled mine, nothing was actually broken, they just didn't engage.
