How expensive of a problem am I looking at? I lost alot of fluid in the transmission. It was literally pouring out of the bell housing between the dust cover. Could this be a torque converter seal or something more serious. Its a 94 Ford F150.:doah: 2WD. Inline six.

sounds like the front seal, you have to seperate the motor and trans to instal a $3 part. not too expensive, probably.

It'll be nice if its that simple.

yeah, it's probably that simple....but in reality, how many jobs turn out to be "that simple" :doah:. while i agree that it's probably the front seal, check around to make sure you don't have a tranny line that rubbed through, cracked, etc. sometimes the routing of this stuff is just stupid.

One thing to watch out for is a broken converter snout. I got burned by that one ONCE!! you can do a quick check by filling the converter up to the top with fluid and using compressed air and a blower around the weld while watching for bubbles in the fluid. The only shurefire way is to have it tested by a trans shop. It could be obvious whats leaking when you take it apart though like a seal hanging out. Then your probably safe to slap a new seal in and roll with it.

Good advice guys. I appreciate it. Gonna try to get it apart this weekend and see what we have. Thanks again.
