K, got some recentered hummer rims today and was wondering what was acceptable for runout? +/- how many thousandths????? I would really appreciate the K5 vendors posting as well. (cough* Kurt**) I have allready set the inner portion of the H1 rim on the axle and checked with the dial indicator and i will post what mine are after some posts. I put the indicator on the bead seat surface, not right out on the lip of the rim, since the lip is bound to have some dings from previous military use. Really would appreciate a big response on this on guys... Thanks....

I think that .030 is what most shoot for. Aneheim wheel told me less than that though. He said his would be closer to .010, Not sure how though. ??

I believe .030" to be a general industry standard for steel wheels. I've seen worse than that and they were brand new. As much as .100". They rolled out with no appreciable problems at all. Maybe I got luck and got the tire wheel together just opposite each other!

Your also checking runout on the hub at the same time with this method. Just an FYI>

just to throw it out there, when i welded my hummer rims togther i tried to get the runout to be not so bad and (being the highly skilled fabricator/mechanic that i am with my abundance of specialty tools :haha: ) it was pretty far off....BUTTTT....i dumped a bunch of airsoft BB's in the tires and they have never ran smoother....not with 3 different sets of aluminum rims, and 4 different tires....so im not going to say that runout is not an important factor but what i will say is that airsoft BB's are the $HIT!!! no issuses at any speed and ive had it up to about 80 testing it....just my 1.9 cents :D

Actually, I did not check the run out on the hub. I suppose I just assumed the hub would be darn close to perfect. So by saying .030" overall that would be +/- .015" right?

+/- .015" from center is correct. Although you won't know where center is so you pic a spot and measure. As long as your highest & lowest measurements are within .030 of each other you are good to go. You might end up with +10 and -15 as your high & low marks. You haven't started at a position of exact center but since the numbers are within 25 points you know it's good.

Well, I'm not even close to that! These are recentered USA6x6 h1's and they are at +/- .040

I think that Daniel himself has said that more than .030 would not some out of his shop....

But we all know about Daniel.:doah:
