hummer wheel question of the day

I cut mine with a Dewalt Sawzall using a 7" Lennox Bi-Metal blade.
It cut through the runflat like butter.

I really don't know why everyone is so worried about them catching fire. They are a Mag-Al alloy, and will take much more heat than a spark to set them ablaze.
After I cut mine, I used a grinder with a 80G flap disk to smooth them out.

After I was done I did some playing with the scrap and even a propane torch would not set a large piece on fire. If it was a pile of shavings it would though.
MAPP gas would do it all though.

No sparks from the sawzall, used a milwakee "the torch" blade about one blade per runflat.
My grinder tossed a spark or two. The propane torch got the pile of shavings hot enough that if you toss some water on it, it will flame up.

i run mine right now with no insert in them with no issues. eventually im gona get some aftermarket inserts cuz the mags wont work with the tires im running

im supposed to be getting some 12 bolts this weekend but they have no runflats but i can get a set of mags if they will work

I haven't seen anything from the aftermarket suppliers of inserts saying a different insert needs to be used between the 8 bolt & 12 bolt. Nor anything from the surplus suppliers of the rims. I wouldn't worry about it.

I just picked my 12 bolt H1's up tonight...
I asked the guy that same question as i want the PVC inserts, not the MAG ones.

He said "No you dont need a runflat, it just wont be a beadlock. It's just a regular rim at that point"

So no, you dont need a insert of anykind...
you need it because it pushes the bead out and cant make it come in....today i was thinking about it as i started putting mine togher and i thought "this all makes sense now"i had to see it to understand

got 1 done and 1 almost done
