hi, all. I am installing a hydro clutch in my 1972 Sub with what I believe are late '80s parts. the bellhousing is the drivers side slave style.

is there supposed to be a spring that retracts the fork from contact with the clutch?

just searched my old pics . my setup I use to have had no hole / tab for spring to hook to on the fork compared to the mech one I took out .

yea, the fork I have (came with the bellhousing, trans, ect) does not have a hole for any kind of spring.

the slave has light spring pressure pushing the fork, so it seems the throw-out bearing will be in constant contact. maybe I'm missing something though.

dove mine for few years no problems . then member here wanted 4 speed 205 combo so I sold it and went th400/205 combo I had .

the hydro pedel has a good spring on it and brace rods on the firewall to the piviot bolt area of the pedal bracket to help prevent firewall blow out .

if they were made to use without the spring, I'm fine with that. I just need to make sure that I assembled it correctly.

I haven't tackled the clutch pedal yet. it is getting hydraboost also, but that mounted up without too much heartburn. the clutch master has an angled mounting surface that I don't really understand the reason for but nothing looks too difficult.

this 'Burb is a long term project and started as a 3/4 ton 2wd, with auto and is now 4wd with 14 bolt/D60 and SM465 with ORD 203/205 triple sticked doubler behind a tall deck 427, so nothing really just bolted up.

your threads and posts have been a lot of help. your doubler thread is still in my favorites...
