Ok so I went to Autozone and we couldnt find it...

but what I need is when you open the res there is the rubber cup piece... mine doesnt fit.. is this normal?
I started the truck and noticed the clutch was out of wack. I went to check the fluid and pulled this cup out and it is like oversized...

it does not fit in the cap and to get it into the reservoir you have to bend it.. is that right????

ok so where to buy this?

It should fit without forcing it. When bad it will swell just like a brake master cylinder cap gasket.

Rubber things like that often swell up when the wrong fluid was used--someone may have added hydraulic fluid,ATF,or motor oil or something, instead of brake fluid possibly...

A friend had a clutch master and slave cylinder go bad and "seize up" after his wife filled it with power steering fluid on his toyota pickup ,it leaked and had to be refilled daily, and one day it went nearly empty, and all she had available to fill it with her was power steering fluid--a day after it was filled with it,the pedal stuck to the floor!..we ended up just replacing them both--thought it was weird power steering fluid would swell up the rubber cups, but it did..

I remember a Dodge Dart a lady had ,someone put Dextron II in her master cylinder--when I opened it to check the fluid level ,the gasket leaped out of it and it was swelled up about twice the size it should have been, and no way were you gonna get it back on right!..when I saw ATF in it,I told her "better call for a ride home--you aren't driving this home tonight!"..we had to replace the master, calipers, and wheel cylinders, and blow all the lines out with compressed air..everything that had a rubber seal was ruined..

Yup. Diesel hit the nail on the head, must have gotten something oil based in there. Looks like a master cylinder cap thats been filled with oil. PM me, i think i've got one.

Oh, and don't be surprised if you wind up replacing the clutch master, slave cyl and rubber line if the clutch doesn't work right.

so still searching..i found something that seems a bit weird...

This is the whole hydraulic assembly installed. In other installations, D&P has tapped into the brake master to also serve as the clutch master's reservoir. We might be doing that in the future for a cleaner look. Just make sure you are using DOT 4 brake fluid.

wonder how you do that...:dunno:

so stupid question.. is this gasket needed? what is its purpose?

i dont see one on others..

here is one after googling off of the link i just posted on the last post...
it got me to
Wilwood Master Cylinder Remote Reservoir Kits 260-11098

then $20 over at http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wil-260-11098

i dont see it there... what is it used for? :dunno:

acts as a separation gasket to let fluid move in/out - up/down but keep moisture out of the system .

check your wanted ad I posted in there.

yeah i saw your post.. for a ford.. i have many parts on my truck..
chevy, gmc, cadillac and only ford piece i have is FORD BLUE tractor paint :haha:

i dont want to rely on ford parts..

just messin...

anyway online junkyard... $45 shipped... so hopefully it will have what i want...
he said it should have it all there.. so we will see...
i was gonna buy the $20 one from summit racing but i like oem parts.. :waytogo:

yeah we will see what comes in... and if i dont like it.. ebay it and buy the summit.. :thumb:

im at the point in my life where I have so many parts on this truck.. what is another $45???

last night I bought 3 exhaust extensions @ $7 each from autozone so i could remove the cats i put in the truck to see if helped on inspection to which the truck failed worse...

but figure $66 in the last 2.5 years I cant complain.. other than the truck has just sat...

Ok my friend.. you helped me figure it out.. I remember what I did bout 3 years ago.. I was out of brake fluid and said.. meh I got plenty of power steering fluid...

so guess what I used...

:doah:..nothing worse than knowing you created your own problem!..

What I do not fully understand,is why P/S fluid and ATF can and will swell up or ruin some rubber parts ,yet both P/S pumps and steering boxes and automatic trannies both have rubber seals,o-rings,etc,and they rarely if ever have problems...I guess its in the composition of the rubber itself,as to what it will bear up to,and what it wont?...I know some o-rings have a "buna" rating, maybe they are neoprene or some special type rubber?..

I know some cars are very fussy about you using the correct fluids...most Honda's for example, they must use OEM or equivilant P/S fluid,or the seals in the steering pump and rack will leak or fail completely..(tell me that was not done intentionally!)..others like BMW and Mercedes ,use anything but the OEM ATF in the tranny's and you'll be risking a complete meltdown too--and its 20 bucks a qt,available only at dealerships!..kinds puts a guy stranded in east nowhere in a bind, when all he can buy is Dextron at a rural gas station, but it dont matter ,he cant put the fluid in without a lift,a special "injector" nozzle for the fluid bottle, while the car is running anyway!..

I had to replace a whole cutch system for a guy 1 time cause he used p/s fluid by mistake .

it swelled up everything so bad nothing would work at all.
