What exactly is this, and is it good to use for anything worthwhile?

electric hydrolic pump unit.

check the tag for voltage needs.

use it for some things like remote mount plow pump/ hydrolics on yo rid hom boyyy / other things needing hydrolic power.
by looking at the unit its a power up and float down more than likly. so single acting ram use and gravity pressure to drop. prob from a lift gate setup on a box truck.

The switch box says "raise" and "lower", then that little tag shown has a "12" in the little area with the V next to it. There is another tag on it that says it has been rebuilt, and it was spotless clean when I found it. It's been sitting in my storage unit for a while, I'd have to move six doors and a tailgate to get it out.

ya solinoid for power up. and still need one for down. might be power down tho. cant tell.

but not a bad thing to have on hand for what ever.

hell make a rig for it to bolt on truck and crush beer cans FLAT . :haha:

ive seen them on 4 post lifts. anything that needs hydraulic power. cabover OTR trucks often have a small electric over hydraulic like that. with a manual backup.

Oh yeah, it's kinda hard to tell in the pic, it's probably about 1.5 feet in length.
