I know this is prolly a big no no but i wanna start ordering all the stuff for my crossover...im gonna get a new box and was thinking of getting a nw fab box or just buying a cap like jkw sells later...im gonna build a 60 next winter but im running a 44 now...prolly not a good idea right???

how does your 44 hold up to 5.13's and the boggers...i heard the pinion gets real small on a ratio like that.

its is real small...i bought the axles and havent used them yet...my buddy ran 38x11 boggers in the mud and never had a problem but with my 15.5s im prolly gonna break something...but oh well im not worried about breaking anything till it happens...as long as its not like steering driving down the road or something..

i believe they use different size rams. i know the 60 uses an 8" and i think the 10b/d44 use 6".if they use the same ram then i dont see why not do it, since you can just swap it all over. otherwise just wait

Then only problem I have heard of is when you do to full histeer with hydro assist. It is just to much force to the 3 bolts on the knuckle and can shear studs/snap the knuckle. When I had a ez-locker I could have used hydro but I went to a selecable locker instead. I never like the idea of beaing able to tun a wedged tire, well you usually cant turn it but the ram will snap **** if it is really bound up on a rock.

yeah i have geard the same...thats why im not going high steer...what kit did you run???

my buddy has a 1.5 inch ram on his 10 bolt, its nice to have hydro assist.... if you dont want a ton of force then dont run a huge ram or use common sense

Rams are cheap, and tapping the box is easy. Machine shop should be able to do it for under 60 bucks (it's just two holes and taps) 2" bor 8 " throw hydro ram is 49 dollars if you know where to go.

I'm worried about my knuckle too, I'm trying to find a spare one I can stress test, then find a pressure release valve that will spew hyraulic fluid before it get's there (would rather add fluid than loose full mobility)

Also, supposedly there is some trick with washers on the inside and outside to limit the travel to that of a 6", which could be removed later for the dana 60, but then again 50-80 bucks isn't all too much to spend later.

I have decided that I am not going to run it at this time. I have not found a solution that I was happy with, except carrying a spare 2wd steering shaft and the seal, as well as modifing the box for more pressure (which I am not sure I needed anyway but it was free). Snapping the shaft out of the box is what I have heard happens after lots of hard wheeling with no hydro. I have a selectable locker and have not really felt I have been in a spot where hydro would have helped me in any way.
On my last Rubicon trip, memorial, we saw 3 rigs with issues pertaining to hydro assist, and hydro steering. We saw a guy in the box on fri afternoon on the first set of rocks he got the front driver bound up aginst a rock at full right crank. I said to my buddies "ut oh here goes his steering" after hearing his spotter tell him to crank it left and back up. Well sure enough he sheared the studs off and fubared the arm and knuckle. We waited for a while to see some other rigs go thru but his extraction was going to take to long so we just continued on down the trail.

keep in mind that the draglink for a 44 or 10 bolt crossover kit is a different length then a 60. I would wait to buy hydro and crossover till the 60.
