i have been searching and reading for days and days, i need some answers here, i have been fighting it for so long now...

i finished my 465/205 hydro clutch swap in my burb this weekend, and my friend told me to bleed the clutch, do it like brakes, i didnt know too much at that point... so, invited a friend over for a drink... then informed him he was my pedal buddy haha, we sat there and i opened it up a million times

i cant get this sucker any better

i have to put the pedal to the floor to get it to the point of engagment to shift the sucker, let me tell you, that sucks to drive

so, stats...
- new master, new slave, new hydro line, new zoom clutch kit which came with disk pressure plate pilot bearing and bushing throwout
- bellhousing from donor truck that had proper year range and such, came with fork, also got the pedal assembly w/ it
- sm465/np205 from another doner truck, which doesnt have much to do with my clutch problem

i had a 465 in my old truck but it had a zbar setup, so i know how it should feel and work, roughly

and i know this is terrible

i have heard talk that there is a hydro throwout bearing... i used the one that came with the zoom clutch, i had a friend w/ hydro that did this and he had no issues, so i dont know why this is happening

i dont want to pull the tranny again, pain in the butt

i have tried bleeding over and over, all different ways, brake bleeding, pulling with a mityvac like brakes, then pushing with the mityvac reversely, i tried putting thread sealer thinking air was getting in while bleeding, i tried keeping the fork from engaging the clutch with a c clamp, but that didnt work at all, my aftermarket slave already has the bleeder mounted on the top, directly, so i dont think taking it off would work

i was also going to try going to get a power bleed thru it, what shops can do this? what is the general cost?

another thing is, i have seen guys make a longer rod to push the fork, i think this will be my next try, seems sensible if i make it the correct size, i will probobly use a long grade 8 bolt properly shaved and trimmed and such

its killing me, please help, and trust me i have read ALL your threads on bleeding this thing, i have a total of about 8 hours troubleshooting, this is not including install and such of the system, its making me rather frustrated

When I bled mine I did most of it before the install. That way I could orientate the slave in such a way to ensure no air was trapped.

I know you don't think taking it off to bleed it would help, but it sounds like the only thing you did not try. So why not try it?

I ended up submerging the entire slave in fluid and bled it like that, then re-installed it and had good success with that.

also, anybody had luck with gravity bleeding the system? i might try that 2morro

i guess ill take it off since i have nothing to lose and try that, if it doesnt work, ill submerge it, i assume you had the bleeder still pointing up while submerged?

I know I have posted this before.
Do you have a vacuum bleeder?

If so, then use it to draw fluid from a bottle and hose attached to the bleeder on the slave........all the way up to the res above the master.

It takes about 15 minutes and can be done alone. Every time I have replaced a slave or MC I always do it this way without fail.

yeap, did that with my mityvac, tried 2 times actually

that gave me less pedal than bleeding it like a brake

I gravity blead first and then got the old lady to operate the pedal. I did it all with it on the truck and haven't had any problems since. That was two years ago.

You have to put a C-clamp or wedge a block of wood on the slave cylinder rod to prevent it from moving or you will never get it to bleed right.
I use a C-clamp & tighten it so it actually pushes the rod all the way in , I know others have said you just have to keep it from moving , but I had better luck by pushing it in.
Took less than 5 minutes to bleed the last couple of hydro clutches that I have installed.
Give it a shot it works .:D

cory you can come over and steal our whole large apple juice jug of brake fluid, its all clean, i used it when trying to bleed my brakes.

I did something a bit different.. other than keep it from moving I actually unbolted it and moved it in and out... had someone watch the resivoir and fill it... did that for a while, then installed it and vaccuum blead it.... think I will try this next time.... :wink1:

I had to bleed the whole assembly off the truck to get it to bleed. I also had to make sure the hose didn't have any "uphill" travel in it otherwise the air doesn't come out.

today i took the entire slave off the bellhousing

i started with a regular bleed with the bleeder on the direct top so the air could rise to it... same pedal

read somthing on a thread i found... took the slave off, and manually pushed the pin in, let it return, push it in, let it out, exc, this seemed to work, i could hear a couple bubbles coming out of the resivoir, got out to look and saw some bubbles still coming... pedal was the same tho

so i put it back on, and began a gravity bleed, took a nap under my truck, let it bleed for 4 hours, didnt do anything... pedal was the same

sooo... 2morro or saturday im going to make a longer rod, gotta measure, i just wanna be sure it doesnt bottom out... then i'll go from there
