Hydro vs Mech Clutch Pedals

Has anyone successfully used mech (pre-'85) pedals on a hydro clutch ('85+)set up (using OE style parts)? What was involved in doing this?

I know the pedals are different but since the hydros are relatively scarce it would be nice to use common parts.

I used my stock 72 pedels. Simply drilled a hole for the push rod to mount to.
