keep in mind the pre 82 and post 82 columns were different.

What is your zip code?
There are differences in the wiring for pre '82 but I've been told on this site that it is mainly swapping around a couple of wires for the turn signals... might want to check into that if you plan on using it in an older truck. But it does not have the column mounted dimmer switch like the '84 up did.
I had a pic of the damage to the ignition switch and column but lost it when CK5 went down a couple months ago. /forums/images/graemlins/doah.gif

My truck is an '82 so I figured it would work fine since you said the column is from an '82-'83. ZIP is 46011
