Has anyone swapped to Hydroboost after a Vortec 5.3L conversion? The vacuum booster in my K5 is bad and I am considering a swap to hydroboost. But I am running the 5.3L power steering pump and stock bracket.

Has anyone done this? Does the 5.3L steering pump produce enough pressure? How did you plumb it together?

Thanks!
Brian

did it have a different part number? How did you plumb in the hydro boost unit? With T fittings?

the 6.0 pump was from a truck with hydroboost brakes. so it was bolt on / hook up like stock and run it .

get a 2003-2004-2005 2500hd with 6.0 and hydroboost brakes . then get the pump for that and swap it in direct and go for it.

see my pic . its .3 with 6.0 pump and the extra nipple return port on the tank . fits in just fine . motor / truck didn't even notice the difference.

hydroboost for stock 5.7 1990 k5

Hello all, switching brakes to hydroboost system on my 1990 k5 with the stock 5.7 . my question is what vehicle should i get the power steering pump from? Some people are suggesting a v3500 truck should bolt right up?

Thanks

I'll try to dig up some diagrams of the 03-05 2500's. Sounds like there's three ports on the power steering pump, and one goes to the hydro unit?

From my research, it looks like I need the hydro-assist assembly and master cylinder from a 73-79 model.
