hey, i'm hoping you guys can save me some fu*( around time. i've tried searching but can't find my answer.
I'm tearing down a 92 1ton with hydroboost, i want to install it on my 83 K5. I'm wanting to know if this is a fairly direct swap? can i just remove the vacuum booster and master from the K5 and install the master and hydro from the 92, and remove the abs controller?
has anyone done this before?

oh and the trucks a 6.5 and it's going in the K5 so i'm not worried about the pump
thanks.

Mmm. Do a search. The brake pedal is different for hydro in at least some 73-91's; given that yours will be different, I'd try and source a brake pedal lever from a 73-91. (The pushrod for the booster attaches at a different point than the vacuum booster.)

Yes, you'll want to use the newer master; hydro masters are different from vacuum.

The other thing that comes to mind is the hoses; I would *guess* that the newer truck would still use a compatible steering box, but I don't know if the fittings for it will match your '83's box. Something to watch for, anyway.

Would be easier to say for certain if it was an older donor ;)

The combo valve may or may not be an issue; my experience says don't screw with it, but that's just me.

i'm going to take a look when i get to the truck tomorow, maybe i would be further ahead to remove the brake pedal from the 92 and see if i can get that to work in the 83.
I'm planning on stripping everything i need off the truck then calling a boneyard to pick up whats left before i bring the 83 over to drop in the motor and tranny.
