ok, i've been looking into putting hydroboost into my truck, where can i find a brake pedal that will work? can i modify mine to work, if so can someone take some pics of what they did and elaborate on it?

i was told you can just punch out teh two extra bolts...

The hydroboost has 4 studs and 2 holes...
The non -boost has 6 studs and 0 holes...

I put HB in mine. I drilled a new hole in my existing brake pedal, it is about 3/4'' higher than the original to line up the rod angle. The hole itself is also a different diameter.

I grabbed me a hydroboost pedal at the junkyard. The attaching point is a little higher, Im wondering with it being higher what that actually does....Im hoping that it makes the pedal softer b/c it should provide more leverage. Atleast thats what Im thinking

EDIT: Forgot to mention that Im still using my vacuum boost pedal right now, brakes are just stiff, but when you get on em, they grab real good

PM SandawgK5 and see what he did when he put the hydroboost on his Blazer.
I have looked at it a hundred times, but never thought to look under the dash....I just assumed that the pedals would be the same.

We've just done this recently.

I've done it. The pedals are NOT the same, specifically as to where the plunger rod for the booster attaches. You might be able to drill for it, but as I recall it would have been hard to do, might be there was supposed to be a stud or something.

Somebody in one of the above threads tried a regular pedal and bunged up their hydrobooster as the angle was wrong.

Anyway, just get a brake pedal assembly from a diesel or a 1-ton at the junkyard and be done with it.

it's not that easy down here, they never have any 1 tons or diesels in any of the junkyards

i also already read both of those threads and neither says were to get a pedal, besides a junkyard.

now that i think of it there was a 1 ton at the u-pull it down here, maybe i'll see if it still has it's pedal, booster, MC, and powersteering pump this weekend

I used my stock pedal. I did not see any issues with rod angle or anything like that and have had no issues with it.

The research I found says some work and some don't. I think it is a year thing.

Your '87 pedal worked with hydraboost? Does it matter what year the hydraboost unit is from?

Not sure, I removed my vacuum style and put the hydro boost up there. I put the rod on and it was straight and I have had no problems with brakes on this rig. I do not know of any direct correlation between years, pedals and booster style.

I took a shot at them working together and they did. I was going to remove the pedals and make a new hole if need be.

There is a suburban down the street form me at Myers Auto Slavage that has a complete hydro-boost system in it.

how much would they want for it and would it be bolt in and go or just used as cores? yunit is selling a booster, MC, and pump for $100

i might just get the hydroboost setup and see what everything looks like when i put it together. now only if the seller would get online so i can purchase...

I pulled mine out of a '81 pickup and put it into a '80 pickup, rod angle was so bad that it was leaking at the firewall and the pedal would not come up far enough (too much friction). I drilled the new hole and leak has gone away, pedal comes up nicely.

I never bothered to look under my burb. But I know the hydroboost units should be the same...

oh yeah, someone should jump on the hydroboost and pump unit. Thats a STEAL at that price. I paid close to 250-300 (cant remember) for my unit rebuilt from autozone. Not much goes bad on them, mostly just the seals. And their easy to replace (if you can find the seals).

the MC should be the same, Roughly, since their job really is to porportion the braking power, I dont see a real difference there.
