Im changing my ps pump in the morning, the old pump is shot and leaks really bad(normal pump/reservoir combo). I have tho a ps pump from a van that had hydro boost, it has the round pump with the rubber hose and reservoir a lil larger than a beer can.

On too the question, are the hydorboost pumps any more powerful or do they flow any more fluid..? Also the hydroboost pump has a 1.5 inch smaller pulley on it. Since the pulleys smaller, should i do the pump mod or let it go and test it out or do the pump mod and with the smaller pulley it will work even better.........?

With the hose, pump, ram, lines, cooler and reservoir being filled enough fluid for hydro assist..............?

rumor has it that the hydro-boost pumps flow a little more and have a little more pressure, but theres no evidence to back that up that ive seen. and 2nd,i have had both. i ran the stock-un moddified hydro boot pump. and i did the mod to a "normal" pump and it works just a good as the hydro boost. i didnt see or feel any difference. but u still need larger resivior to run hydro assist. theres not much volume in lines so theres not much fluid. as for the smaller pulley. that might be the only difference between hydro boost and non hydro boost. my guess is the pump is the same but the smaller pulley adds the RPMs to the pump which equals more volume/pressure.

I guess ill try the hydro pump with the smaller pulley, it should do better and flow more since its alot smaller. The hose is about 2 1/2 foot long and the reservoir ill mount on the inner fender. I wanted a new hose for it but everywhere i called just had heater hose. If needed ill use the modded parts out of the other pump.

Ill let you know the outcome in the am, not as much time as i thought to get to it today.

Ok..Heres the outcome....got the pump all on and lined up, the reservoir bracket is for a corner so i put it up in the corner of the radiator support/fender. Worked out perfect so far. The hydroboost pump with the smaller pulley works just as good as my modded regular pump. I did find a piece of goodyear 5/8 hose, so i changed the hose and put on some heavy duty hose clamps instead of the cheasy ones that came on it. It steers real smooth and easy, i can turn the 39s .n dry road with one finger....that being that way it worked good...:waytogo:...thats with a 2.0x8 ram.
