Is there a blazer or truck that I can get a hydroboost system from that would fit my 88 blazer?
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

thank you,
Ed

yes any 1/2 ton diesel equipped will be what ya need .

or others with diesel / big gvw like 3/4 or 1ton .

and the brake pedal are has a different pin hole hight so grab the brake pedal also .

and if possible the p/s pump to make life a little better in the swap .

Yep nailed it
I got all my stuff off a 83 diesel k5

Thank you so much Guys!!!!!!!!!!, one more question:

Is there a difference between a 1 ton system and 1/2 ton, reason I'm asking is I have the Dana 60, 14 blt set up.

Thank you again & Aloha from Hawaii!
Ed

if you have 1tons under the rig if possible just get 1ton stuff. there is a slight difference in master bolt up pattern if I recall.

the bigger master to match the brakes you have will be best .

The K5 system I used was complete w pedal assy
I did use a 78 K30 m/c that bolted onto the hydro unit fine but I had to make a pushrod spacer to get the stroke right. The K5 pushrod was about 1/2" short of the piston

Thank you, I need all the information.

Ed

Sweet, I am about to hook up my hydroboost to my LS 6.0 that I bought. What do I need for that? I got the pedals off a std trans with hydro clutch and pedals off a std with hydro boost. I need the clutch for NV4500.

Do I need the brake petal from the donor hydroboost system?

What's the difference between the hydroboost brake petal, and the petal that's in my blazer? I have and automatic transmission.

I'm just trying to learn about the component needed to better understand what I need and why.

thank you,

Ed

Read through my M1009 thread, starting with this post. The pictures and write-up should answer your questions. If not, post them up and we'll get them answered for ya. :waytogo:

Would the hydroboost system on this truck, 1986 CHEVROLET M1031 K30 CUCV 1.4 TON diesel motor and automatic transmission, fit my 1988 blazer?

thank you,

Ed

If you compare the pedals of hydro and non hydro the hole for the pushrod is in a different position on the pedal arm giving a different amount of leverage on the m/c piston
GM put a diff pedal in there for a reason I would try to mimic their engineering
The K30 pieces should bolt onto your K5. Just be sure to check the stroke of the m/c piston then make sure your pedal engages the piston after a short amount of travel (having a short amount of free play is essential to not engage the piston at rest) Also make sure your pedal stops before bottoming the piston in its bore (measure the stroke of the piston)
I used all I could from one donor truck to keep matched parts together.
That all worked well until I changed the m/c for a bigger bore type, (to handle the 4 wheel disc setup) that is when I had to make up a spacer for proper stroke of the piston.
I also used a high pressure hose from a 99 K2500 w 6.0 and hydro on it

I too am upgrading to a hydro boost setup. I have an automatic '77 K5 and want to find a pedal I can purchase online. Anyone know of a good website to find a single brake pedal for a k30 or CUC-V? I have already purchased a hydrobooster for a CUC-V from hillbilly wizard. Thanks!

I used a square body hydroboost unit and a GMT400 Master cylinder. I do not like the rock hard brake pedal that a cast iron master cylinder provides.

Braking power has been excellent.

MA89K5: I am actually just looking for the brake pedal itself. I read you have to either use a brake pedal that was for hydroboost otherwise the piston on the MC will not be actuated correctly. Did you use your stock brake pedal?

Yes that is correct. I used a hydroboost pedal with a hydroboost unit and then a newer master cylinder. I haven't had any issues at all.
