i bought a used lift kit and the front spring, front spring eye bolt was rusted to the bushing insert ''tube'' inside the rubber bushing. so, i couldn't get the spring off, we tried everything, it wouldnt budge. well, since they were junking the truck, we cut the side off the spring mount, that the bolt runs through on the bolt head side and just pulled the whole thing out, bolt and all,(the nut had came off the bolt,..but, the bolt wouldn't come out of the ''sleeve'') when i got it home, i pulled the bolt and sleeve out of the rubber bushing, i've soaked it w/pb blaster for over a week, i've heated it cherry red and plunged it in ice water, still nothing, today, i tried 4x4high's bees wax trick i read about, i used real beeswax out of our jar of honey,..lol, but its still stuck.
can i just reuse 1 of the sleeves out of my stock leaf springs in the lift bushing? the lift springs are narrower, but the rubber bushing is wider to compensate, will it be ok, to do this? will the inner sleeve come out of the stock bushing fairly easy or will i have to burn/melt the stock bushing to get the sleeve out? or can i buy a spring eye bushing inner sleeve from somewhere. or should i just buy new poly leaf spring bushings and replace the bushings? the rubber 1's that are in the lift springs look fine, and if a stock bushing sleeve will work for me, i'd rather do that and save my money for other things. anyone know if a stock bushing sleeve will work.
