I got 4 42" TSLs w/wheels for $100. PICS!!!! started grooving the tires

here's a video from years ago of me and my buddy grooving my old 42's when they where new. You can fast forward the first few mins of the video. We were heating the tire because it was witch tits cold, the rubber was stiff and the heat made the grooving easier on my arm.

:D

Ok, sorry, that's funny! Groover!! I need one!! How much meat is in between the treads? I need to do a google search when I get to work tomorrow. I watched that video a long time ago. Good viid!!

just founded me a set of 42's for my 16.5 hummers. guy says they are not bald, they have a "little" tread life.

possible score, if so...i will be looking into grooving em if they are worth it. mainly just for rollers for now tho.

interesting.... i bought a set of 38.5in TSL Radials for rollers for my H1 rims, never thought about re-grooving them for more life. gotta check and see if they have plugs and crap in em. Im guessing thats a factor in the safety of re-grooving the tires??? That would certainly be awesome. I got mine for $100 too, but definatly wish they were 42's ;)

Anybody have a tire GROOVER they want to loan me? I will pay all the shipping cost and whatever is needed.

Thanks, I saw that also. I will have to get one. If I borrow one though, When I get some new tires, It wont be sitting there waiting to go to work on the new tires. If I own one, I will use it on the new tires. Don't know if I have the willpower to not use it on the new tires!!

whole point of you having a groover dude!

Come on up to Idaho I will groove em for ya then you won't own a groover:D

be careful if they have any plugs in them grooving will make em not plug so good anymore almost killed a set of boggers I had caused I grooved some plugs right out of em. Of course they looked like your bad tire. I went way more than a 1/4" on those suckers

So how much do yall think can be grooved out of the voids of the tread to give it more life? Could it be done on any tire also? I scored a set of pretty bald nitto mud grapplers that I"m thinking of grooving to give more tread and selling...

They are 16.5x14s. Damm, that's wide. I took them off tonite though. I need my crossover on to run these. It was all over the road today. I now know my new set I'm getting soon will be 42s. Is the Irok the only radial in 42"?

Here is a pic of the rims. I don't like where the valve stem is though. Too close to edge of the wheel.

Anybody know what brand of wheels these are? I can't find anything on the wheel.

did them wrong.

turn your cut 90* and go all the way threw to the center.

then take the center blocks and cut them up in to 3 blocks.

and if you can get a bigger head and blades. then 1 single pass required. #4 head size for the 38" and down size tires. then #8 head for the 28.5 and up size tires. http://www.bryke.com/902-100/Tire+Groover+Head.html

and good depth there. wouldnt go much more.

Thanks. I'm just making tread where there was no tread. It was bald on the one side of the tire. Once I make some tread, I will go the other way.

Just remember, like I said, go in until you hit air, and then the correct depth is just a little shallower than that.....
