I currently have a 86 custom deluxe..single headlight..had a 87 silverado..and I want a dual headlight setup like I had..but since I got change everything..I was wandering if the 89-91 setup is better than the 81-88...I like the looks better of the 89-91 better but I want whatevers brighter...and I was wandering if there's any way I could retrofit a like..99-05 5.3 in this thing...fuel inj. And all...I know I'd need the computer...but would it work? Can I keep my 700 r4?

Whats your definition of better for the front clip?

As far as the 5.3 and a 700r4 I believe they work fine together since a 4L60e is nothing but an electric 700r4 and they come from the factory with them.

A 5.3 swap is actually pretty easy. There alot of companies that make motor mount plates, headers. There is also a bunch of adapters to mate the Gen 3 motors to a gen 1 transmission.

Do some research, the information for say a CHevelle/camaro applies to you as well. Same Principle they just use a different header.

Either Dual headlight set-ups will work better than the single especially on the "brights". There is a kit for $40 that will relay the high and low beams together, so you have all 4 lights on when your brights are on.

I'd really like to throw a 6.6 duramax in it..but..I don't know... Think itd really take a lot and I just don't know if I could..and the motor would be expensive and prolly hard to find...but as far as the lights...I kno the 89s are relativley smaller than the 88s...are they not as bright? And I'd like to find the all aluminum 5.3..the 315 horse

Come on guys.. I know you guys know lol...I'm really interested in doing this...after I sold my 87 so I could keep my car and pay some bills I've been looking at my old 86 out in the back..lol.. This one I wanna go all out on...one I get a rear axle and a gas tank back in it atleast...then pull out the tired 305 with 350,000 plus miles..then hoping to do a 4 inch shackle flip 2 inch springs to obtain a 6 inch in the rear and then 6 inch front springs with 35 or 37s....and thatll do for now...later comes one ton drive ton...and what not

I had the factory 84 single headlight clip, then went to the 89-91 clip. There is a big difference in lighting. And if it's still not bright enough, wire the headlights into relays to make them even brighter.

Think about it, if the smaller bulbs in the 88+ vehicles were dimmer than the older style. They would not have kept the smaller sealed beams around another 5+ years.

Well just cause they kept don't necasarily mean it was better..I know those lights in the 93-97 camaros absolutley sucked...they can't really change back after they make them..and they only kept them from 88-92 I believe...I could be wrong
