Ok, it's about time I put a new set of tires on the blazer. I want to get some in the 38"-40". Does anyone have any suggestions?

I really wanted either ltb's, tsl bias, or tsl sx's but I called interco yesterday and they said they do not have the sizes I want and they have no eta on when they'd get them. The sales rep told me it could be 2 weeks, 6 months, or they may never get them in those sizes again.

I looked at the KM2's but they are stupid expensive. I also looked at some cooper stt's but can't remember what the price was for their 37's.

What are yalls suggestions for tires in that range? They'll be going on a 17" wheel.

Or should I just stick with some 35's? I don't have anyone to wheel with, and I don't wheel alone, so it would more than likely be on the street more than in the dirt...

Pitbulls are all the rage and available (from what I understand) BUT I'm not so sure that tread pattern would do well in southeast mud. :dunno:

I don't like that pit bulls only come in super wide.

I've heard mixed reviews on them in the mud, some say they're great and others say they don't do so well and that they don't self clean.

Swamper SSR radial if they make in your size. Will be expensive ...but it's a killer tire.

Exactly. Either mud riding or crawling, mud is always a factor in the southeast and if the tires won't clean out they're useless. I also think the KM2's would be the same way.

I hate to direct you away from here but maybe try pirates ale forum for a set of used tires, there's a ton of traffic there. :dunno:

I've also read that the KM2's don't clean out.

I'm on pirate daily and always check their for sale section. I hate how fast it is, I have to look threw 2-3 pages just to look at stuff posted that day...

Fwiw we've got some smaller KM2's on my wife's jeep and the ride great with only a moderate amount of noise (easier to hear with soft top too). We've wheeled it a couple of times and like the tires but it's never been in bad mud, just light stuff. You're right though, they were very expensive.

I just bought the General Grabber at2 and really like them but I was eyeballing the Grabber M/T's. My problem is I now need that rig for long distance travel for work and other than the BFG's these where the only ones I liked with a 60,000 mile tread warrenty. After install I thought there was something wrong as the are quiet.

Also big selling point for me was made in USA with USA materials. Check out their website, and of all places (and I hate it with a passion) I got them from Wally World for about $200 buck less than anywhere else. You have to shop them online though and set up install at local store. Free shipping and mounting when you by them on line (to the store).

So you went from wanting a swamper to getting a street/ at?

Nope, don't want a street at. Unless you're saying a KM2 or cooper stt is a all terrain...

I'm wanting a good offroad tire in the 38"-40" range that won't break the bank. I looked at the KM2's in a 38" and they want something like $620 per tire. Then I looked at the rocker radial in a 41.5" and they want something around $550 a tire. And the 37" rocker is around $450 I think

oh durr i was looking at jesters post thinking it was yours . thats what i get for browsing with my phone

Price was a huge awakening for me when I bought my SX's. Ever is crazy high now and if you go for just about anything over a 35 (regardless of brand) you're automatically in the $2k range.

When we bought the 35's, for the Tundra, I was like: :eek1:

:doah:

Don't worry nor cal I do that too.

I just came off of cooper stt and love them (for about 35,000 miles). But with some new contracts I will be traveling all over the state so mileage and road wear became a factor.

Will probably get generals or coopers again when I do the blazer though. I really like the American made thing.
